So is there any place to buy one of these Pure Power oil filters other than their website?  Specifically, for less than $199?

The K and P version of the filter is about $150...

Finally got around to changing the oil...here is my report of first oil change after installation of K & P Engineering Stainless Steel Filter.  Have about 3,000 miles on this oil...using Amsoil V-Twin.  First photo is of filter just prior to removal.

Immediately after removal.  Dark circle is the magnet.  The material on the magnet appears to be sludge...could detect no metal particles on the magnet.  Also, could detect no metal particles on the magnetic oil drain plug.

Filter media after disassembly.  Cleaned by swishing around in mineral spirits, then blowing from the inside with an air hose, as instructed.  A couple of very small pieces of sludge was the only thing that I could detect in the filter media.  Appears to be very well constructed...all parts are billet aluminum.

Both pieces after cleaning and just prior to reassembly.  Washed the housing in warm water with dish washing detergent and blew it dry.

Final photo...both parts cleaned, reassembled and ready for reinstallation.  A couple of observations: (1.) It is a little smaller than a stock filter, but that does not make it any easier to get it off without making a mess...I've tried every trick in the book and still haven't figured that one out. :nixweiss: (2.) The instructions state to torque 20-25 ft.-lbs., so this thing is on tight!  All in all...I like it...very well made and provides at least a small measure of additional cooling.

There doesn't appear to be anything to get a wrench on to tighten it that tight.  What is used for removal/installation?

If you look closely at the first photo, you can see that the entire perimeter of the end looks like a BIG nut.  It comes with a tool that fits over the end of it.  You put a 3/8" drive extension and ratchet on it to loosen and tighten.  Works great and very well thought out.  The rubber o-ring is good for multiple uses, and it comes with a spare one too.

Thanks.  I think I see it.  So any road trip that might require an oil change during the trip would require hauling the tool on the trip.

That's (a little) annoying.

Like the looks of everything otherwise though.  Glad that you're pleased with how it's working so far.

Yep, a little annoying but small and light weight.  Maybe it will fit in my tool kit?  I think that I will try that.

Thanks much for posting with pics.  May be investing in one of these - appears to be better than stock and carrying the removal tool is not too much of a problem - just one more for the bag.
