Stainless Steel Oil Filter
« on: March 15, 2007, 08:35:55 AM »

Does anyone have any experience with one of these oil filters?  I looked at one yesterday at a local indy shop, and they appear to be extremely well made.  Come polished, black, or chrome; fins provide some measure of additional cooling; washable and reusable.  The indy has been running it on his bike for some time now, and he likes it...Any thoughts or comments on this?  All manners of data/information on their website...

The two big advantages are reducing the parasitic load on the oil pump due to high flow volume with low restruction, and being able to easily look at the trapped particles in the filter.

Well if you can believe the dyno, this is as cheap a horsepower as you can buy.  8 Hp and 10 TQ for 199 bucks.

If its actually true I would think everyone would want to have one.

I don't know that I believe that, but wouldn't it be nice!  I'll be installing one of the K&P filters next week, so I will see how it turns out.  Don't plan on having it dynoed afterwards, but I might go race a rice rocket or something to see if it's running stronger though ;D

With those kind of gains claimed, your butt dyno should be able to tell... 8)

I will await your report, as this looks like a very interesting product. :2vrolijk_21:

I'll post a pic after I get it installed next week.  They say that it is machined from a piece of solid billet aluminum.  I held one in my hand, took it apart, and was impressed by the quality construction...it's really only three pieces: the housing, the filter, and a replaceable rubber o-ring that is good for multiple uses...has a strong magnet in it too.  Oh, and it comes with a socket cap that fits over the end of it for attaching a ratchet.  Again...very well thought out piece.

Will either the oil cooler or the sensor be a clearance problem?

Will either the oil cooler or the sensor be a clearance problem?

That was my next question....have they verified the fitment with the oil coolers we have and also the O2 sensors for both stock and TMax systems?

I really like the piece, and want it to fit....

I guess if we had access to the tech sheet to get the overall dimensions, we could answer these questions ourselves.
