Cigarette lighter jumps ship!
« on: November 03, 2004, 09:32:34 PM »

Anyone else had problems with the cigarette lighter falling out?  Mine has vibrated loose and fallen out twice!  Anyone have a fix or a suggestion?

I learned this lesson on my Ultra Classic.  Push the lighter all the way in.......it will heat up and pop out a little......just leave it.  You're in far enough that it will not bounce out.

Or, when you push it in and you think it's in far enough, push it just a little further untill it clicks and you'll be fine.

I lost 2 of them within 2000 miles, then I went to the local auto parts store (NAPA) and bought the cheap one for $3 or $4 (it doesn't have the rubber boot, it is a perfect match otherwise) and haven't lost it yet and I have over 11,000 miles.

Sorry about the errant cig lighter. I have to laugh, because the day before yesterday while speeding up to pass a car, something hit me on the left ankle, I couldn't figure it out, I didn't hear anything hit the bike and was wondering how something got through  without hitting the lower fairing. It was only after I looked around for the next few miles that I realized that the cigarette lighter was missing. Of course the local dealer had just sold the last one to a fellow with an ultra, who had lost his. [smiley=givemebeer.gif]

Mine's gone after only 200 miles. Anyone know of a plug of some sort? I don't need the lighter since I don't smoke.
