It's a 2018 with 20k on it. There was plenty of meat left on the pads and they were working fine. I could have just removed them and scuffed them up as to remove the glazing that was causing them to squeak, and put them back in and probably gotten another 10k or more out of them but chose to replace with better quality instead.
I'm assuming you have 12,000 miles on your bike not 1200, but needing to be changed at 10k would be far from normal. I've gotten 50k out of them in the past but I'm sure that has a lot to do with riding style and the quality or lack there of, of the pads themselves. I'd be asking a few more questions to your dealer because what you're describing would be a defect ie, bad pads or warped rotors OR it's your personal riding style.
