When the local dealership plugs the bike into HDs magic box to see if the ECM has been altered by an aftermarket tuner it will read No. The local dealer will not void the entire drive train warranty if I only change the Cam and everything else is HD stage 4
Short story: I wanted to keep the warranty and install the HD Stage 3 kit for the extra displacement, but use the HD torque cam from Stage 2 to keep the low end TQ. Problem: HD does not have an EPA-approved fuel map (tune) for that combination...so any map
at all means No Warranty.
Two things: (1) I've been told by a very good tuner that the HD Pro Street Tuner can't be adjusted outside the EPA-approved values; (2) If any other dealer looks at the actual map, they will see it is not one of the EPA-approved maps (HD only has a few of them), and they probably will void your warranty right then; (3) your home dealer is committing a huge violation of the HD-EPA court settlement by not voiding the warranty, which could lead to huge fines and the wrath of HD corporate. Frankly, I'm surprised your dealer is willing to risk that...and for sure they won't put that in writing.
