Hello Everyone,
I have a 2015 CVO Street Glide. I'm working on a project to replace my 6.5 Boom Audio system with a true Android Navigation Head Unit. I'm going this route because I want integrated built-in navigation, TPMS, Volume Adjust by speed, and the ability to integrate any of the various apps from the play store. I do not want to use "Android Auto" interface and depend on my phone.
Integrating an Android head unit to vehicle is a bit of a challenge. You really need to get all the "pieces of the puzzle" set up properly. I did the same upgrade to my Chrysler 300C and after quite some effort I'm pretty happy with the result. I'm using the mounting hardware kit developed for the Sony AX7000 and I've already checked fitment to ensure the new head unit will fit.
All this said, The choice to use an Android Head Unit is not what I'm looking on input for. I need help with audio equipment (Amps etc.) The Head Unit has 2 pre-amp RCA outputs (Front only) and 2X Front and 2X Rear speaker level outputs. I'm replacing both the both front and rear OEM AMPs along with the head unit. I would like only one single AMP to drive the existing OEM Front and Rear speakers.
Q1.) I'm considering using the [Diamond Audio Micro84U 660 Watt 4 Channel Amplifier] for this project. Are there other amps I should be considering?
Q2.) Should I use the two preamp (RCA outputs) or get a digital interface module to convert speaker level output to pre-amp level input? The Head unit has the ability to adjust fade front / rear / left and right (just like a car) on the speaker output level. But on the two preamp outputs its (left and right only). So I need some way to set the fade between front and rear... Maybe this can be done on the amp itself by adjusting the gain?
Q3.) I'm no audio expert. And I just want a system that will play loud and work well with this new head unit and existing speakers. I'm looking for suggestions from folks that understand this stuff better than I do.
Best Regards, Tim
PS: I added a PDF file that shows the Head unit interface I have so far. When this install is complete I'll post a another thread with details on how it works and what exactly it took to do it.
