Oil line came off
« on: March 21, 2007, 05:08:29 PM »

Took my 07 SEUC for its inaugural ride after traveling to Myrtle Beach. With in the first 4 miles I noticed oil blowing on to my left boot. Shut it down and coasted to a safe spot. Looked over the area and found out the oil line was not crimped from the factory(it was there just not crimped) Of cource it was after the dealer had closed so I was not able to get them to tow it back (not sure if I would have wanted anyone to anyway but still called H.O.G.) My wife was riding my 02 Custom Deuce so I had her stay with the SEUC and I rode back to our hotel and loaded the Deuce and came back to pick her and the SEUC up. Took it to Myrtle Beach Harley in the morning and their shop forman grabbed the bike and took care of it right away (even though they had a full schedule) Ends up I only blew out a few Qts. of oil (had over 3 left in it) No damage done, thank god I was paying attention and noticed it right away.
Just a warning to everyone out there to check these over because the dealer sure did not during pre delivery inspection.

Unfortunately you're not the 1st on this forum to have a failure of the oil cooler line(s) for 06 or 07 SEUltras..  It was nice that you were aware of what happened and didn't have an accident with oil on the rear tire or losing a motor from lack of oil.  Sounds like you lost a little over a qt..  Your dealer got you fixed and up and running-that's the main thing.  It's riding season again.  Good luck with the new ride.

Glad to hear you noticed soon and no damage was done. Dealer did you right by doing repair right away. Probably was a little embarrassed.

Also glad to hear you caught it in time. I know that if that had been mine, I would have been really pissed of with HD. I'm not sure if it would be a normal delivery checked item, even though it should be that they give the whole bike a detailed check at delivery. What if a wheel was not tightened correctly from the factory.

I guess it is on both the dealer and the MOCO. It should never have been not tightened from the factory and the dealer should have noticed it during inspection. To the dealers credit how would they notice it was not crimped properly with out checking every little detail during inspection and we all know that the MOCO does not pay them enough to go into that much detail during set up.
Bottom line is nothing bad happened and I am back on the road.
Good riding to you all.

Who did your Partner contact at the MOCO to get his warranty extended. This is actually something that I wanted was for the MOCO to extend my warranty. You spend 35k + on the top of the line bike and the first ride it blows a line.
Thanks for any help you can give me

My Bus Part is out of town, I'll ask him next week. He didn't catch his as quick as you did..... He was VERY UN-Satisified with his ordeal. He asked me what I would do............ I said sell the bike and get a new one....

Twinrig

I spoke with him today... I was incorrect. He said they would extend the Warranty to 3 years, but he didn't feel comfortable with that. (worried about lost paper work etc). He purchased the Extended warranty himself.
