I'm not a user so I have no first hand knowledge.  However, the attached page from the Boom Box manual seems to say the radio will try to automatically connect to a phone on startup, but it will not automatically connect to a bluetooth media device and you will have to manually connect such a device.    :nixweiss:

I can assure you from my experience that the radio searches for the Bluetooth device that's in its paired memory even when the bike is off. I've had my phone connect to my bike while in tow and had no idea. I had to shut Bluetooth off manually on the bike.

My iPhone and my 30K headset almost always auto pair with the bike when I start it.  Once and a while the Phone does not.  That can be a pain when it happens as you have to shut bike off for a couple minutes.

That said 98% of the time both auto connect as they should.

:)   In this instance Glenn I'm just letting the OP know I don't have a late model Harley with bluetooth, but I guess one could read that a lot of different ways.

According to the manual that's the way it's supposed to operate, on start up it should go to the last source that was playing when you shut the bike down.  Or am I still not understanding the situation?

My 2020 CVO Limited usually goes to the last source (XM Radio) that was playing, but occasionally it will go to the USB. I seem to remember my previous 2017 Limited did the same thing.

Mine does also, but when it does switch, it seems to always go to the USB that I have plugged in with music on it.
