Those photos look absolutely amazing.  Have you fitted running lights/indicatoers to the bag rear or are they reflectors?

Smiler, they are hooked up to the brake light and with the brake module installed they blink in sync with the brake light.

They look awsome at night.  I wanted something different from the saddlebag lid spoilers that HD sells.

Hey guys -I've been wrestling with paint for a pair of hard bags since February. I went to HOG Primary Officer Training in Las Vegas over St. Patrick's Day weekend. While I was there I talked to a guy from the Motor Company who thought we should be able to buy paint to match our bikes. Later I got a call from one of his representatives that said they don't sell paint (other than touch up) to anyone "to protect us the Screamin Eagle owners". I guess they think we all want to build "fake" Screamin Eagle bikes or something... I really appreciate them for looking out for us though... I think! 

In the mean time I did some looking around to see what I could find to match my Razor Red paint. I think the base (color) coat may have to be a custom mix to get it to match. Then I found some tiny flake that looks reasonably close to the sparkly stuff in the stock paint. The stuff I found is made by PPG and (I think) the part number is:

DX42 Gold Flamboyance Pearl

It is also available in silver, but I didn't get that part number. After talking to my local paint representative they said that I would need a base coat of color, then a layer of clear with the sparkles in it, and finally a top coat of clear.

The painter I'm working with thinks he has some Burnt Gold Leaf that will match the stock stuff pretty close. I'll post some pictures when (if?) the bags ever get done. (My painter has a good reputation, but it's taking a loooong time and lots of $$$ for some reason.)

Nope, the saddlebag spoilers, that were supposed to go out overnight, went ground and arrived to day instead of Monday! Thanks parts Dude! Gene's in Sturgis, so it'll probably be another 2 weeks before I see them. Don't really need them til HS. I can deal with the leather ones on weekenders. This is becoming an entire summer's project huh! Hoist!

It'll all come togehter sometime.  Sometime before too long too.  Enjoy the air conditioning.  Chase Binx around the house more since you're not out riding as much.  And just know that before long the sweetest 110 SERK in existence may very well be in your garage.  Probably the only thing that will keep it from being absolutely perfect will be it's lack of a red paint job  .

Dennis you know Howie is right about one thing.  Having a bike that's the same color as the dust and dirt that settles on it means you don't have to feel bad about not keeping it cleaned up....

Hey Hoist...
Any word on your bags yet??? I just bought a set of hard bags and am going to send them to Gene for painting and such. Just wondering how yours are coming - seems like it's taking forever. Maybe if I get mine to him now I'll have them by Spring. I just hope he's gonna be able to match the Razor Red and the gold flames - I'm also thinking of having him do some type of a gold skull on the back of the bags - you know, something that'll flow with the flame graphics.
