Thundermax / iride system
« on: June 04, 2020, 01:25:34 AM »

Sorry if this is the wrong location for this, but it kind of blurres the line between ECM and suspension

So I ran across this on zippers website and was hoping the forum could give some feedback. Has anyone installed the Thundermax iride system?
It looks like basically a computer controlled air ride system but has some really cool features and integrates Thundermax auto tune into the display.     Is airide, even if computer control, a step backwards?

Thanks

I know I tend to geek out over interesting applied tech.  And it's nice to see some systems from the automotive industry (even belatedly or lacking their maturity) come to the bike world.  Even if this worked flawlessly though, damn, $2800 is a lot for a set of shocks.

I've still got my good Bitubo shocks dialed in on both big bikes.  They were pricey for shocks (better because I scored take-offs); $500 plus for a pair of shocks still makes me pucker a little.  But they're good shocks.  They may not be randomly and immediately self-adjustable.  Having said that they give a better and more controlled ride than any air shock I've ever ridden on.

I agree with you 100%.    They mention on the web site they are taking orders for sturgis.   I assume they will be installing at the rally.    I have not been for at least five years, didn’t think I had any reason to go back because of congestion. But maybe I will take a drive-through just to look at new toys.  😀.     You know how it is when you get a new bike.
