Looking for a Tuner in Colorado

Finally starting to get my stuff together to start building my bike up. There's two HD dealers in the area with dynos, don't know anyone thats used them. Does anyone know of a good dyno tuner in the area to work with? I'm going to go down the the two HD shops and talk to them, but I'd like to find a good Independent shop, or a HD shop like Latus in Portland to work with.

I seem to remember that bgregston had his dynoed at Pikes Peak HD on Nevada in Colorado Springs. You could PM him and ask him what he thought about his experiences there. I believe Outpost HD in Pueblo has a dyno and while I've never had them dyno my bike, they have done good mechanical work for me there.

If it was my scooter and I lived in Colorado, I would take a couple days off and ride it into Reno, NV

Took the bike in. Very clean, professional shop. The owner is a retired Air Force aircraft mechanic. He is the only one allowed to run dyno and tune the bikes. His business is a mixture of sport bikes and Harley work. The owner rides a 2003 EG. He has recently tuned bikes from Wyoming, Texas and Washington state. I rode 5.5 hr from New Mexico. He spent 2.5 hours tuning my bike with D&D Fat Cats, K&N filter, SERT. Stock ECM with pipes only, showed AFR 18.5 in the lower RPMs!!!

Final numbers after tuning, air cleaner and SERT: 113 hp 132 ft/lbs torque (corrected for altitude). Very drivable with much of his work going into the partial throttle positions not just 0/100% stuff.

I'm very pleased with his professionalism, expertise and the final result. I should add that I ran into bad weather and showed up a couple hours late for my appointment. He pulled another bike off the dyno and worked me in to accomidate my travel plans.

Add to that what does "corrected for altitude" mean? Would the numbers be different at sea level? More/less? I'm confused. :confused5:

If you dyno your bike at sea level in Va then load it in a truck and take it to Colorado Springs it will produce ~80% of the horsepower due to altitude alone.

As you drive up into the mountains the air gets less dense. Less dense means less oxygen. Less oxygen means less horsepower

Ride that same bike on up to Leadville and the hp will drop to a fraction of that.

I talked to this guy and he sounded very professional. He gave me a solution for my spark knock and adjustment to correct A/F mixture at our altitude. getting the $$ together now to get it done. Retired aircraft mechanic? So am I. I knew there was something I liked about him.  ;D ;)
