Guatemala
« on: March 24, 2007, 08:27:22 PM »

Well tomorrow is the day <i do my yearly pilgrimage to Antigua Guatemala. <i have a bike waiting for me there to ride to a few of the volcanos and then to Guatemala City. Cant wait. Some of the guys are going to take pictures. <i would love to but my camera stopped working this morning. Today was the best day in about a month here for Sailfishing. We had 20 fish today. Damn that was tough to rub in to some of you :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:
Well it is time to  :drink: :drink:. Will post some pics when <i get back to the states.

Brian,
I've been bored to tears for weeks. Your trip would sure drag me out of it. Wish I was going with you. Enjoy yourselves.

Hope it picks up when you return. Only 20 sails?! Geesh.

Have a good trip.

On the next to last day we went to Antigua. This used to be the capital of Guatemala. The capital now is Guatemala City.

The reason all the people are on top of the buses is thaat this was Sunday. It was the first day of Holly Week. The Guatemalins are mostly Catholic and have the 2nd largest Easter parade in the world. Spain has the largest. On this morning there must have been 125,000 people in the city to see the parade. We had to walk about 2 miles to get to the town to see what was going on. The parade took about 2 hours. There were even people on top of the church tower.top left.

I spent several days in Antigua  and many weeks in Guatamela  City.  that bus ride from the city to antigua  was unreal.  They never had hooters there in the early 80's!!!!!   Looks like you had a blast :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:
