The letter I received says it's on bikes built betwen 11/08/05 and 03/28/06.  I've attached a Word document with the body of the letter.

It does say that it's to be inspected, however, when I called the service dept. the service manager said she would order the new part. I think that if you got a letter, it's probably going to need replacing.

Got my letter. Online indicator says it is one for recall by dates. But question I have ( not to seem stupider than usual, but in order to be prepared for the " do they have one in chrome" shuffle) is this the correct part number for the 06 CUSE? 74622-06

thank john

John, that's the only one I found for our bikes.  I am gining into the shop today, so I'll double check and let you know if it is not.

Checked with my KC dealer again this afternoon. Still no chrome regulators available from H-D. He's put through orders three times and they come back as being back-ordered. :nixweiss:

I've just left my CUSE at Bumpus 'cause I didn't want to go through picking it up and then taking it back.  It's been three weeks now.

Our dealer has checked 12 bikes so far and hasn't replaced a regulator yet.  Oh and if you have a SE bike they will have to order a chrome on in.

I called the service dept , Told the service manager about my letter, Service manager said " I have them in stock", I asked if he was talking bout the chrome one?, he said "Harley Davidson wont replace with a chrome one on a recall", But bring it in and lets look at the numbers first and we will cross that bridge. Didnt the stock CVO's all come with a chrome one??

Near as I can tell he's talkin' out his ass.  I ws told that they had to order the CVO regulators.  The MoCo would have to complete the recall with a unit that matched what the vehicle was delivered with by law I would think.

I just checked again with the parts manager and he is still awaiting a call back from HD on the delivery estimate for mine.

Oh yeah, they sure did come OEM with chrome and they are supposed to replace them with chrome per the recall. My dealer related yesterday that it's not about inspecting them, ALL REGULATORS ON BIKES BUILT WITHIN THE DATE RANGE WILL BE REPLACED. They can't tell by looking if one is going to go bad. He said the problem first reared it's head on Police bikes. Now they're seeing it on other touring models as well but only those within the specified build date range of 11/08/05 and 03/28/06. Symptoms involve spiking of the electrical charge up and down most noticed by dimming lights and sporadic malfunction of the radio. The bike will not die on the road but if the regulator does malfunction you could find yourself with a dead battery after a ride.

I agree with BobD.  It's not about inspecting.  They need to be replaced.  My dealer said that mine appears to be fine and I can ride the bike with it, but if it fails, I could end up stranded.  They are ordering the chrome voltage regulators as they get VINs for the bikes that need them.  I checked again today and the dealer has not received any chrome voltage regulators and I know that they ordered mine about three weeks ago.
