I'm embarrassed to tell you what attracted me to the dark side. While at CHL I kept missing gears when riding aggressively in the twisties, when I got back I told Rosey to check the Baker that he'd just installed because of the reason stated above. He said the Baker was fine try heel up shifting and he'd bet the problem would be alleviated. He was right but it is not easy to get used to, I've found I have to force myself to use it because after 45 years of toe shifting it just ain't natural.

Mark, if you never get out of first gear, you don't need a shifter at all!  ;D

Legs forward--heel,toe. Learned it on the 77 FLH where there is not enough room under the shifter to get my boots. I know it can be adjusted, but I like it where it is. I had a Dyna, and had fwd controls added. (no heel shift) Hated it for a lot of reasons. Only kept it 6 months.

Legs back--Toe shift. Really no choice there anyway.

If I did not have the EZ shift set-up I'd definitely not like the heel shifter.  But with the extended and lowered shift lever it is great.  Lots more room on the footboard and very quick to shift.

When I first got a Harley I didn't think I would like the heel shifter, but after using it that's all I use to shift with. Shift up with heel, and shift down w/toe. Keeps your boots/shoes from getting messed up also. :2vrolijk_21: ;D

This is exactly the way I would have posted. Feel the same way.
I bought extended shifters and now I have the whole board for my
foot, also positioned rear shifter lower for easier use.

Took my heel shifter off first week, guess you just can't teach an old dog new tricks.
Just curious, which do all of you use?  :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

The only downside to heel shift that I have found so far is footboard room. And thanks to Jerry, I ordered the EZ shift and brake yesterday. I'm really surprised how quickly I've gotten used to the heel shift.

Toe only (as my left boot indicates).  Keep the heel shifter on for the obvious 'spare' reasons mentioned above........and, it's a nice chrome piece........seems like going in the wrong direction to be 'removing' chrome.   :ohar!  :drink: spyder
