Back in January I announced that I had oredered my first new Harley. My son got a new Harley last year and wanted me to get one so I could ride with he and his friends. In Feb. while I was in Florida he went to Dallas and picked it up and last week I returned from Florida and saw my bike for the first time. My son had put 1200 miles on it and had True dual Rinharts, SERT, Stage (something) digital oil thermometer and breakin service completed...OH ! and he had the bill ready for me to pay.
At any rate, I had sold my GoldWing and was afraid I wouldn't like the new Ultra Screaming Eagle. Since last week I have put about 500 miles on it and am very pleased. It is a different bike and fun to ride. I believe the sitting position as a bit more comfortable for me. All the Harley folks that I have met are great and I look forward to many fun times with them. I will be 66 in July and never rode a bike in my life until 2002. It has really been fun and I believe it has played an important part in helping me prolong my cancer fight.
The bike is Cherry Red/ Black Ice. I don't know how to work all the gadgets...but I can work the radio (including the XM satellite ). I can't work the intercom, nav. or the CB. I haven't tried the CB yet, but think I can work it. I don't plan to go far enough from home to get lost so I don't really need the Nav. My wife has decided she is too afraid to ride with me...and even though I have her helmet fitted with speakers and a mike....I guess it is just money wasted. Well, I won't have to learn the intercom. Since most Harleys don't have CBs I won't have anyone to talk to so I won't have to operate that either. All in all, I think I am ready to go. OH ! I did try the heated handle bars and seat and those are REALLY GREAT. I am now an OLD "HOG" and ready to go.
