2020 Boom GTS in 2017 CVO
« on: February 12, 2021, 03:15:58 PM »

I suck at searching, been at it an hour. Looking for links to installs, or directions for the swap. I know bits and pieces, but looking for a bit more.

I have a 2020 out of a Roadglide. It probably did not have "The" Flash while it was in the 2020 to allow it to be installed in the pre GTS. I don't know what that flash is.

Is a flash required?
If so, do I have to have it in a GTS bike and then flashed?
If I install it in my 17 and it hasn't have "The" flash, can it be done while in my bike?
Is all of this BS and no flash required except for CVO amp and speaker set up?

Thanks in advance -

I believe that the 2020 GTS have the correct firmware for the upgrade.

That would be great, I guess I will have to put it in to find out. I just want to make sure I can't lock it up or make it unusable if I do that.

I had been following the GTS upgrade for a while. From what I remember is back in 2019 if you got a head unit from a 2019 model you had to make sure it had the latest update. I would assume that all the 2020 models have it. Hopefully someone on the site knows for sure because what I read for the 2019 GTS is that if it didn't have the correct update it could only be done while installed in the 2019 bike.

That was my understanding in general. It's the first I've heard 2020 may have different firmware.

OKAY - New Question, is the RG radio compatible with the SG - Do I need a different mount?
