the Germans passed a beer purity law back in 1516 "Reinheitsgebot", which stated that the only ingredients that could be used in the production of beer were water, barley, and hops. I think there was profound purpose in that law to preserve the integrity of "Beer". IMHO once you cross that line you might as well just spike some cool aid.
It actually pisses me off when I see someone ruins a great Paulaner Hefe-Weizen by squeezing a lemon in it. I know there has been allot of trendy American beer Mfg. doing this lately but I personally wont go there. JMO  :2vrolijk_21:

Gotta love a kegerator in the basement, I had a homemade set up too, but gave it up when the neighbor and I downed one too many kegs the last summer we had it in the basement.  I think the wifey at the time didn't like the neighbor coming over all the time.  Solved that though, got rid of the wife.

Drawing lines in the sand is never a good idea.  "this or that" or even the "this for that".  Get's lots of folks in trouble.

I mean what can be wrong with someone drinking beer they make themselves, or at least bought themselves, in the comfort of their own home.  No drinking and driving.  Not hitting on some hottie just cause she's there.  Not running up a bar tab. Not embarrassing oneself out in the community. Can't imagine anyone drawing that line.  Just not worth it. 

But then, I'd have had a glass in my hand and been sharing the war/hunting/fishing/riding stories with you.  But then again, that is just me. 

Glad you woke up and moved on.  Sometimes it is just the best thing to do.   ;)

My favorite is Mirror P :drink:ond from the Dechutes Brewery in Bend Oregon. If you ever go through there it's a great place to stop for lunch and a brew. Of course there are many fine brew pubs in the northwest. To many beers not enough time
