T-Max Accel Auto-Tune Fuel setting question.
« on: April 04, 2007, 07:25:54 PM »

Over on the V-Twin forum, another poster said he went to the BASIC SETTINGS mode, and changed the Accel Fuel setting from 12 to 3, and that improved his mpgs from 30 to 38. Is there any harm in doing this? He said it was akin to the accelerator pump on a carb throwing in too much gas.

BUMP TTT

Iron...I'm no expert in this arena, but judgging from a PCIII and it's abiltiy to have an "accelerator pump" function (which is not active on my unit), it could certainly make a significant difference in fuel economy.  I would bump it down and see if you get a lag in response to an increase in throttle position, as that is the only action where the pump feature would be coming into play.  My bet is that you do not.

One thing that would be good to know, just for the hell of it, is what is the relationship between 12 and 3...12% more fuel is added as opposed to 3%, or what...

IH, make a post in the Zippers vendors section with a link to this thread.  Getting Kitzmiller or that other gentleman that has popped in occasionally to answer here is probably the best bet.

I have no idea what the numbers mean in relation to what. I'm just hypothesizing that 12 means more gas, and 3 means less gas. I didn't go the 3, I went to 5. I'll see if it makes any difference in mpgs. I haven't ridden it enough to see if my throttle response is lagging now.
