Bitubo Shocks (Traxxion Dynamics)
« on: April 06, 2007, 03:05:26 PM »

Ok...just got off the phone with Dan from Traxxion Dynamics.  He called me about rear shocks and what I thought about interest in something other than Progressives might be.  So, after a discussion about what is offered by the company they are working with, Bitubo Shocks in Italy, Dan is ordering a couple of sets for a SEEG/SEUC/SERK and a set for a Vrod (guess who's going to test those?).

The link for Bitubo is:  http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=it&u=http://www.bitubo.com/&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3DBitubo%2Bshocks%26hl%3Den%26rls%3DGGLG,GGLG:2006-08,GGLG:en   This will give you an idea of what the shock looks like and information about the company.  It's the translated link.

These are fully adjustable...Rebound/Compression/Spring Preload...and will have Chrome Springs!!  They do not have an exact price point at this time, but it will probably be in the $700-$800 dollar range, possibly less for a group buy situation, but don't hold me to any price point at this time.  It will be more than Progressives though, that's for sure.

Here is what Dan has proposed for me to arrange:  We need someone from the Atlanta area to be the Guniea Pig on this, preferably someone with a bike that does not have the lowered suspension that came stock on the 04/05 models, so an SEUC from 06/07 would be best, or someone who has raised their suspension up to full travel on an 04/05 SEEG.  If you (whoever jumps on this opportunity first) will PM me, we'll work this out so that you can go up to Traxxion get the shocks installed, allow them to test them a bit, and then you take the bike back home and test the shocks on the road for some period of time yet to be determined.  If you like them, this first set will be a smokin' good deal for you.  If you don't, no harm has been done and you get the old shocks put back on the bike and you're on your merry way.  I have a feeling that the old shocks will never see the light of day again after running these Bitubo's.

So, who's first up?  Tbone?  Chief? Someone else?

PM me, and we'll make it happen as soon as the shocks get here from the distributor.  Dan is ordering today.

Thanks for the update Terry. That's the info I've been waiting on. For the first time, I wish I lived in Atlanta! I hope these do the trick. They'll be going on my SERK in Sept if they test well. Did they say which model they're testing for HD Touring bike application? This is good news. Hopefully this will become a real product by Sept! Keep the updates coming and let me know how you like them on the VR! Hoist! 8)

Howie...they make three versions.  I felt like the first one's that need to be tested are the top of the line, fully adjustable version, so that's what Dan is ordering.  I couldn't imagine why someone would want anything other than the top of the line... :2vrolijk_21:

Don...is your bike back up to full suspension?

One of my first thoughts on the matter was that ideally, it would be nice to have someone do the test that already had the Progressives on their bike to see if or how much better these are.  But nobody comes to mind who has the full travel suspension. :nixweiss:

When I convert the suspension, I'm putting mine back to stock height, front and rear. How long would I have to stay in Atlanta? ::) Hoist! 8)

I'd stepped to 12.5" with the Progressives (just splitting the difference).  Had instructed them of that when they did the front end but pretty sure they gave me a bit more than just a half inch gain.  So I'm damn close.

Hell, I'd test them myself, but I'd have to nail a couple of 2x4 blocks to my boots to walk the damn bike around.

I'll be the Vrod tester.... :bananarock: :drink: :carrot: :cucumber:

So when can you be down there again?  It'll take 'em a couple of weeks to get the order in, maybe longer.  They are odering about 40+ shocks for another group by on a Suzuki forum.

You're an evil man you sick twisted bastard; and I say that with great affection.  I was at least half kidding until there was some reality to the opportunity.

When is Howie's caravan ride picking up stragglers and Hoosiers as he goes?  If that's early in May I could do that east, hang south at the end, and do it all in one trip.  Will check schedules and than call TraxD for the final details.

Damn damn damn damn damn.
