Ohlins vs Sreaming Eagle/Ohlins
« on: June 09, 2024, 05:15:56 PM »

:nixweiss:  2016 FLTRUSE CVO. Is there a difference between the HD Premium cartridge front fork kit and Ohlins? Coming up on 50K and time for the front end tear down and inspection. Thinking of installing the Ohlins struts since already had their shocks in the rear but the HD Premium are cheaper. Leaning towards getting the Ohlins cartridges though for the front. At present still have the stock HD cartridges in the front.

Unless you're racing a 1,000 bike on a track, just have your stock ones serviced. Save the money for gas.

I’m not positive but I think your 16 still has the damper tube setup on both sides.
If it were me I’d go with Ohlins just to keep same brand on both ends.
I opted for the HD branded Ohlins on the rear and race tech up front. (I rarely race!)
Mine were trial and error getting everything set up the way I wanted but the end result was great. JME

Good luck with whatever you do and leave us some feedback how it works.

My 14' Limited is the same set up as yours. I had the HD Premium setup in it for years and suffered with that absolutely horrible ride until last year. I finally pulled the trigger on Ohlins front and rear and I promise you there is no comparison. It's a completely different bike, it rides and handles so much better it's hard to put into words without sounding like a marketing ad.

Just out of curiosity what settings are you using on the rear shocks?

Check out Legends for the fronts.  I'm running Ohlins in the rear and Legends in the front and it's a good set up.

That is a very good set up.  Ran 13" Ohlins on the rear instead of factory 12" lenght.  Then I had the Legends in the front.
