So finished the initial break-in today. Yesterday, I rode 5 miles all under 2500 rpm and shut it down for 30 minutes. Then rode 12 miles all under 2500 rpm and shut it down for the day. This morning I rode 10 miles under 2500 rpm and shut it down for 30 minutes, Then rode 100 miles all under 2500 rpm and shut it down for 1 hour. The finally rode 50 miles upto 3000 rpm and called it a day. I figure the piston rings are seated by now.
Initial impressions:
1. I had the 131 kit on my 2017 cvo limited and that was a very twitchy throttle and lots of low end torque. This motor is much more tractable and very smooth response from idle. I did mostly HD parts with an extreme ventilator, the SE tuner and kept my KW HP+ slipons. My ride today was so enjoyable, this bike has so much low rpm power and pulls like my HD diesel truck.
2. It hit a high of 80 degrees today and the twin cooled 135 never got uncomfortably hot. Upon shutdown, the fans ran for the same amount of time as the 117 motor.
3. Gas mileage is uncertain so far, if I had to guess its probably in the high 30's.
Im not a dyno guy and this bike will never see the dynometer. My butt is the ultimate measurement. Very satisfied with the power and look forward to putting many miles on this motor.

The 135 has a little longer stroke, same bore as the 131.  So that will increase your torque.  Bike should be lots of fun with all that low end torque.

Wish HD would come out with a VVT Cam for the 135.  I would do the kit for my 23.5 VVT CVO

Why is the vvt so important? You can do the kit from 121 to 135 and not have the vvt like the ST CVO. I had to do the crate motor since the kit wouldn't work with the 117 due to the stroke.

I like what VVT does for the torque curve.   Yes, I know I could do the 135 and eliminate the VVT.  A few have already done this with nice results.  I should check out the torque curve of the 135.  I know I'M not a fan of the ST CVO torque curve for my intended use as a touring bike.  Its great for a performance bagger.  I have ridden the ST CVO.  Prefer the way my power comes on for touring.

Its the first time I've seen Harley advertise rear wheel HP/Torque on one of their big bore kits like the one for your bike. That is serious power for a factory tune. Im sure you could get another 15 HP out of this kit with after market but still pretty amazing.

I think the motors they are shipping out now have a bit more power since fuel moto did this run.

Those are very good numbers for the Harley kit.  I agree they usually do not advertise torque and HP to the rear wheel.  Fuel Moto has a nice curve.  No doubt that 135 with the longer stroke makes very good power.

 I’ve put about a thousand miles since I had the 135 crate motor installed in my 2022 cvo RGL.
1. first, I’m super happy with the upgrade. The bike is so much better with the new motor for how I ride:
2. It’s like a muscle car, tractable and docile when gentle with the throttle, vicious and abrupt when aggressive with it.
3. when taking off from a stop, it’s got enough torque where you don’t even need to take increase the rpms, it will start accelerating with a very smooth uptake.
4. I ride between 2500-3000 rpm generally and that’s where this motor shines. You twist the throttle around 3000 rpm, hang on!
5. Gas mileage has varied from 42 mpg with normal riding and 38 mpg with aggressive throttle:
finally, this is with all HD stuff, extreme ventilator and SE tuner, only exception is KW mufflers.

Kojak, are you holding your breath on the engine heat when it gets hot this summer?
I know that you had issues in the past with the 131 motor.

Yeah, so far so good. Absolutely no difference in heat from the 117 we took out. But I've only ridden in 80 degree weather so far.
