thers APES and then there are APES no set of bars is perfect for everyone. i can run consecutive 700+ mile days with my 10" apes on my SERK but my bro can't put 20 miles on them. you cant tell someone what they dont want..... they need to figure out for themselves what will work and what wont
Yeah, your right, you know what they say about opinions.

I have ran Apes on both my scoots. I had Wild1 18 inchers on my Fatboy and I have 12.5 inchers on my SERK. I must say that I truly enjoy my choice in bars. I put on more miles consecutively with my SERK than my Fatboy but I will only say that the pitful to higher bars is the hands falling asleep on long hauls and the cops breakin your balls. But like Neal said everyones idea of comfortable is completely different. My .02    Later,Q

Ah yes grasshopper, we will add "outlaw vibe" to our zen-apehanger karma list.  Peace be with you my son.

Actually, it was your bike BigDaddy that got me thinking about this, then saw a passing roadglide with them.  I dont think it will work for me on the SEEG.

The hand numbness you're experiencing may be due to the angle of your wrists.  When the wrist is in the neutral position (neutral being the position it is in when you are holding something like a can of beer), the carpal tunnel is at its widest point with less pressure on the nerve.  Check your hands out the next time you are on the bike, and see if the wrists are bent.  If that can be adjusted somehow, may be nicer for you. ??

I was watching a film entitled the "Making of Easy Rider"  which included an interview with Peter Fonda.  He talked about 10-14 hour days shooting while on the captain America bike.  After the shoot he would  go to bar for a cold one but often times couldn't even lift his arm as a result of the riding position.

I'd be curious to know what he currently rides

The last I saw of him on some motorcycle documentary was a interview with him and the "Hamsters" he was riding what looked like a pretty stock Road Glide.
I've ridden them, they are badass! but they aint comfortable for the long haul, just like most bikes you see are built for looks, not comfort. Apes are for looks, not comfort. IMHO of course!

I don't experience that with the 12.5 I only had issue with the 18's. I love my bars and will always run apes. Later,Q  Oh and I saw Peter Fonda last nite in "Wild Hogs". That movie was pretty funny.

Yes they are smaller than 18's but I wouldn't call them baby apes maybe they're toddler apes.  :nixweiss: 8.5's are babies. My opinion. Later,Q

I think my 20" on 3" risers are on the small side. I'd like to give a set of 22's a try. :2vrolijk_21:

I'm all for it. If I had 2 bikes one would have 22's on it for sure. I love that look.   :bananarock:

With the spring seat on I sit pretty high up on the bike. When I drop the Badlander on I'm a reachin' for the bars. ;D
