114 vs 117 first impressions
« on: November 12, 2024, 08:44:20 AM »

So, I traded my 2019 Ultra Limited on a 2020 CVO Limited. The list of differences is fairly short. Not sure about front suspension but if feels cushier. I transferred my SuperShox to the new bike. Overall I like the feel of the new ride.Fit and finish are top notch as always.Nice touch on the tpms, electric locks, and baf illumination. Now the motor...not impressed. My stock 114 and this stock 117 feel pretty much the same. It might be my riding style, but I just don't feel much diffrence. My trade hat 46k miles, this new one has 15k miles.Time will tell.

You are correct. A stage 2 114 will run circles around the 117 as well. I've swapped cams on stock 117 motors and that helps. I've also bumped them up to a 131 in 2017 cvo and on the 2022, I swapped the motor with a crate 135.

It's only three more cubic inches. I don't think a big difference would be expected compared to a 114. I can tell you my 2020 117" has been an indestructible tank. By far the best I've ever owned.
