Looking at 2005 SEEG
« on: April 02, 2025, 08:25:11 PM »

Just sold a 2010 Ultra Classic last fall. Looking to replace it. I found a nice 05, in the red color. It has a 6 speed and a Axtell 107 kit.

My question to you folks is, would you consider this bike or look at a newer model. I can say my 2010 handled better than the 2000 Electra Glide I owned. I really like the look of 04 and 05 SEEG, the paintwork and simplicity of the bike is what keeps me looking at it and considering buying an older bike.

While the 04 & 05 SEEG has one of the nicest paint schemes that the MoCo has ever came out with, those bikes do not have ABS brakes.  For that reason, it'd be a deal breaker for me.   09 and up (on the CVO baggers) for ABS brakes.  Also the newer frame, 09 and up offers a smoother ride/handling.

Love my 🍒 . Buy what u like. One of the best paint schemes, upgraded motor is a plus as long as cam converted to gear. OEM parts are obsolete. The lack of ABS wouldn't be a deal breaker for me because I don't know what I'm missing.

The new frame is definitely an upgrade, and the reason I am on the fence. ABS is also a great safety feature. The 110 is a deal killer. I'd move to an M8 before I bought a 110.

My 08 has ABS….

My '08 CVO Ultra also has ABS... Hmmm, maybe they were just being nice to Canadians back then.   :nixweiss:

I'm sure the always knowledgeable JD just has his years mixed up.  I believe '08 was the first year for ABS.

     ;D

Cheers,
Mike

I believe you're correct......and I stand to be corrected.   :P  The ABS was in 08 and the frame change was 09.  At my age, I just can't trust my memory.   :o

What are the 04 and 05 models worth now in good shape with 25 to 30,000 miles?

I'd go 2009 and up because of the frame. ABS, while nice, is not a deal breaker. People rode motorcycle a long time before ABS were available and survived.
