Engine temperature sensor
« on: April 19, 2025, 10:29:15 PM »

    I ordered a new engine temperature sensor part # 32446-99 .

When l went to install it the thread diameter was smaller.

Does anyone know of a different part # for the cvo?

When l ordered it, lt stated, Fits all big twin cam 99 17 .

Appreciate any feed back.  Cheers. :drink: :drink:

That sensor in the front head was the same for Twin Cams forever Pete.  Sounds like you got a box that someone had swapped a part in.

Of course I'd get stiffed.

This is what came,   it's identical other then the thread diameter

Cheers Don,

Just putting eyeballs on the part it looks right.  Evo and M8 sensors look completely different so that's not it.

There's a lot of gray market and counterfeit crap out "there."  I'd trust a purported to be good used one as much as I'd trust aftermarket anymore.  Probably mistaken here but I vaguely recall an old Ford automotive interchange for that sensor.  But that's a foggy memory.  Will be curious what you eventually discover.

Just had an ugly thought.  If the new sensor is what is now "smaller" (instead of the hole being too small) is there any chance some threads came out with the old sending unit?

If I had all my fingers I'd cross them just to make sure that's not it.

Good thought  Don,

I had checked that cause of the plug issue i had,  but all's good with the threads in the head. The old one threads in and out without any issue  threads are clean.

I've ordered up another one from a different supplier,..Hogparts UK LTD. Bit on the pricey side but it shows a drop down of the fitment and it covers my 07 CVO.
Here's the thread size difference

The new one.

For chits and giggles I just grabbed a caliper and measured an old one here.  Exactly the same as your old one.

New one is probably some damned counterfeit part.  There is a surprising amount of that crap out there anymore.

Don could you verify for me that I'm using the correct part number for the heat sensor used on the CVOs.  32446-99
I just want to be sure there isn't another part number used for the CVOs.  Cheers,

I'm having issues with the seller on a refund.  They insist it's the right part and  it is my mistake ordering the wrong part. They've offered one third of the cost as a refund and keep the part.
