Rode Home Fine - Now No Spark.
« on: June 26, 2025, 04:07:23 PM »

Riding home about 60 miles and 2 miles in my bike backfires (Never has done this while riding) but maintains speed and runs smoothly, idles fine, etc. for 58 more miles. A number of hours later I go to start the bike and it just rolls over. Pulled the plugs and they look fine but NO SPARK!

What would allow me to continue riding and then not function? Any Ideas?

2009 CVO 110.

Could be many things but I would start with the crank position sensor

So, the Crank Position Sensor can be bad and the bike keeps running?

Sorry, I know nothing about electronics and little about electrial.

Could be temperature related, going into open circuit. Crank sensor is located near the oil filter and can get bumped or cracked during filter removal.

GOOD CALL JOEL !!!

I tested the Crank Position Sensor and it had no reading, so I swapped it out and SUCCESS!

Now I know that a 2009 will continue running without the sensor working, which I never would has suspected.

Thanks again for your input.
