Due to health issues I have decided to sell my 2006 CVO Ultra.  I really don't want to sell it, but I need a lighter bike.  I find myself riding the GoldWing more as it's over 100lbs lighter and has reverse.

The CVO has over 111,000 miles on it.  Jim at Metal Dragon rebuilt the engine at 83k and did a top end job at 103k so the engine is stout and solid.   Last year I rode it to Yellowstone, Beartooth, Cody, Mexican Hat and Monument Valley.  I had Jim build the bike for dependability and touring and it is. 

I'm a realist and know I'll never get out of it what I put into it.  That's just the way it is.  And with 111,000 miles on the clock it's not going to get a lot of interest. The market is FLOODED with used bikes.

Sitting and waiting for the market to improve is not really an option as time is not really on my side. So for now the way I look at it my choices are:

Advertise it locally for something like $2,500.
Take it to a motorcycle "Superstore" and let them sell it for what they can.

Has anybody been in this situation before (needing to sell a high mileage bike), and if so what did you do?

That would make me ill to give away (cash, or donation) a bike I put so much into. And by that I don’t mean just money. I’d rather keep it in my garage and show it during parties. 

Do you not have grandkids ?  It would make an awesome gift to a family member when they’re ready for it.
