I hit a large dog on my 2013 CVO Ultra Classic about five weeks ago.  The dog got up and ran off.  It was a divided 6 lane road so I made a U-turn and by the time I got back the two guys that were running after the dog when it ran out in front of me (it had gotten out of their yard) already had him on a leash.  I stayed sitting on my bike as they felt the body of the dog all over and the dog didn't yelp out or react so he was good.  I was happy about that.

I fired my bike up and continued on my journey home (25 miles away).  Pulled in the garage and got off my bike to find my front fender bent up.  I was very surprised.  My bike is 13 years old but I took a long shot and called the dealership.  YES, a color matched CVO fender is available and it'll be four to six weeks out.  The MoCo goes back to their 3rd party vendor (which I'm pretty sure was Gunslinger in Colorado, back in 2013).  The new fender arrived today.....was just very surprised that stock, OEM paint items this old are still available.  Thought I'd let you guys know.

Took it straight to the detail shop to get the Xpel Paint Protective Film and then the 6 year ceramic coating.

Fenders can be replaced, you lucked out my friend! That is a sizeable impact, hitting the poor critter just at the right impact point kept your bike upright and the dog from getting run over.

JC, glad your ok. Did i read your statement correct. you put the coating on then ceramic over that?

I was surprised a couple years ago it was 5 weeks from HD to get painted 2013 CVO RK anniversary fender.  Took 9 weeks to get paint matched tour pack in 23 for my 23 CVO

The Xpel Paint Protective Film goes on first then the 6 year ceramic coating.  He mentioned to me the first time that I went to him that one guy wanted ceramic coating first, then the PPF, then ceramic coating over that but that is a waste of money.

I've had three cars, a truck done by him.  They all have full PPF on the hood, front fenders, door cups, mirrors and console top then the ceramic coating over the top.  I have 128,000 miles on one of the cars since I got it done and it still looks better than a new car!

94k miles on my bike.  I'll post up photos of it on this thread once I get the fender put on.  I also get a "reload" done once a year......it's only $100.

Glad you and the dog are ok. The fender was either painted by gunslinger or custom painted vehicles in franksville wi. Custom painted vehicles does nothing but motorcycle parts now and I would say 98% of their work is Harley parts. If you look on the inside of the fender there is probably a sticker saying who painted it.

Interesting.  I hadn't even heard of them before this.  A quick search reflects: "Custom Painted Vehicles (CPV) in Franksville, WI, became a Tier One Supplier for Harley-Davidson in 2013 and began limited production sets in 2016, indicating they were painting for Harley-Davidson (including CVOs) by the mid-2010s, though the exact first year specifically for the CVO line isn't detailed, only that they were involved with Harley production by then."

Another search reflects: "Yes, Gunslinger Custom Paint, based in Golden, Colorado, painted models for the 2013 Harley-Davidson CVO (Custom Vehicle Operations) lineup.

As a long-term Tier One supplier for Harley-Davidson, Gunslinger has been responsible for the complex, hand-finished paint schemes used on CVO motorcycles for approximately 20 years.

Key details regarding their involvement with the 2013 CVO models include:

The last paragraph confirms what we were told when we stopped at Gunslinger last summer.  He also mentioned that they only maintain paint schemes for 10 years and after that its a hit or miss.  That's why I was surprised that paint was still available for a 13 year old bike.

I will look on the inside of the fender for a label when I get it back from the detail shop.  They were two weeks out when I dropped it off but since it's just a fender he said he'd try to get it done over the weekend (when they're normally closed).

I know that my 2012 CVO RG in Maple Metallica was painted by gunslinger. When I order my tourpack from the dealer it come in a boxs from HD, but inside that box was a box from gunslinger. They called the paint scheme  dog dish brown.
