Your most enjoyable road to ride
« on: January 25, 2026, 02:50:03 PM »

Tell us what is your most enjoyable road to ride is in YOUR Province, State, Territory, etc. and why.

Here in Ontario my most enjoyable road to ride is #507 from #36 (Flynn's Corner) to Gooderham because it is basically lined with trees on both sides, has close to 80 curves in 28 miles with plenty of elevation changes, and in the fall season it is simply a spectacular display of colour.   :2vrolijk_21:

The 507 is a real fun road to ride in any season, but in the fall it is extra special.

Looking forward to reading about your fun roads to ride in YOUR Province, State, Territory, etc.

I have a few.  In Colorado it's The Million Dollar Hwy.  In California it's Hwy 1 from Monterey going south to Cambria (going south so that the ocean and the turn outs are all on your right and you're not having to wait for an opening to cross over like you do when going north).  Also in California Hwy 49 full length through all the gold country historic towns.  Here in Arizona it's the Devil's Hwy (used to be 666 but is now US 191 from Eagar to Three Way, Az.) where the elevation goes up to 9,195'....a two lane road and very, very little traffic but watch out for the wildlife!

So many to choose from out west here.

In Alabama: Natchez Trace. Two lane restricted road, Lined with trees, no commercial traffic and no stores, gas stations or traffic signals. Kind of like riding through a National park.

In Tennessee: there are SO many but if I only had 1 day up there I would ride the Cherohala Skyway or Blue Ridge Parkway.

Impossible to answer in my area, many great roads to ride. Geographically, if you visualize a square with Winchester as right top, Harrisonburg as right bottom, Deep Creek as left top and Thomas as bottom left, there are literally dozens of spectacular roads in this part of MD/VA/WVA.

Yep, I do this road a least once a month, even in the winter but by auto of course. To add to this I would add 515 to Letterkenney, Ontario (Local Lore: Famous for stories of mobster Al Capone hiding out in a log cabin there in the 1930s). Lots of curves and just great 2 line blacktop road.

Not that picky.  Whatever road I'm on at the time is good enough to keep me happy.

The Moki Dugway, UTAH Highway 361, Have done it many times north and south.

East of Mexican Hat, Arizona. Goes from the valley floor 10% grade, connecting the valley floor to Cedar Mesa. Last time we rode up from the floor, the gravel road was in pretty rough shape, as they had a bad winter, and the plows rutted up the road. The corners are semi-paved.

Well I live in South Florida........can you say flat and straight. Yes we can ride all year but the roads can get a bit boring. My local favorites are Tamiami Trail. Beautiful ride through the wide open Eveglades. But lately is has been going though substantial restoration making it not very fun. Also there is Martin Scenic Hwy CR-714 in Martin County. Beautiful trees canopy with giant ranches on either side. Hwy 78 which runs along the west side lake Okeechobee. And Card Sound Road is nice heading to the Keys. Central Florida has Hwy 40 which runs east and west through the middle of the Ocala National Forest. Lastly A1A from St. Augustine down to Daytona is real nice right on the beach.

Excellent choices JC, those are my favorite too.  It's one of the reasons I "retired" to Auburn, CA it's right on Hwy 49.  Speaking of that,....

If anyone is interested in experiencing the beauty of Hwy 49 and the Gold Country, please consider attending the 2026 CVO Get Together in Auburn.  Details can be found in in the "Events" section of the forum.
