top end rebuild guidence , advice and help
« on: February 25, 2026, 04:49:35 PM »

 Rebuild / Parts Help.
Hey everyone, I know this has been discussed, still need some guidence.
I own a 2005 electra glide screaming eagle 103.
it is modified. and has 45k on it now.
I am planning a top end rebuild. run out on crank is within norms, never really rung its neck, and has been consistently serviced.
Planning on upgrading the oil cooler, to deal with projected heat increase
plan on using a fan assisted Ultra cool unit, but about my top end. assuming my jugs are good, I want to increase my compression ratio to 10:01 have been told I should go to 10:5:1 but do not know if that is worth the headache. or how it will effect my bike in a negitive fashion.
already have a baker 6 speed installed. screaming eagle oil pump and gear drive, and cams. rinehart exhaust and a fuel remap
i am planning on going with woods tw-777 cams. and am thinking of going back to a hydraulic tensioner.
the issue I am having is finding a piston kit for this twin cam 103 in the compression ratio I want.
I have also been told that when I pull my screaming eagle heads , I should have them massaged, ported polished . the other area I am confused on is head volume, when I research these heads there is conflicting information on the exact head quench volume.
With all this aside, where would I find pistons to match this stroker crank, i was told weisco makes pistons, but I am not sure if they are a quality piston, and I also do not trust the weisco online catalog, afraid of ordering the wrong pistons,
any advice and help guys?
Thanks
J

Go gear drive cams and forget about tensioners. Get the heads ported. Look back @ older posts. Great motor that was built to the teeth by many on here. Just remember, the Cherries are the best.  :cherry:

My 03 Fatboy had gear drive cams installed in 2004.
