Got My New Bars
« on: March 19, 2026, 02:48:16 PM »

Hi all,

Well, after many hours of videos and research for similar sized people and same type of bike, I decided to go with L.A. Chopper's Twin Peak 12" handlebars in black.  These have the squared off upper corners, but not the exaggerated "meat hook" style bars.  They're 1.25" diameter and 1" for the grips and center clamp.  Stock SESG3 bars are 1" all the way.  From some videos with accurate measurements on their bikes, the 12" should put my hands just a bit below the upper edge of the fairing.

Now here's the problem... I won't have my SESG3 until May some time. :(

I'm dealing with a small dealership, and HD has confirmed that they have allocated one for me to my dealership.  Just that they're taking care of larger dealerships first.

I have purchased the following already for the new trike.

- Rear trunk black bumper
- Rear passenger's swinging armrests
- Upper Street Glide ST clutch cable
- 12" LA Chopper's handlebars
- HD Adversary black mirrors with orange milled out accents
- Fairing mirror plug kit that the dealer will paint gloss Vivid Black

Apparently, the trikes do NOT use the larger muffler inlet pipe on the right side like the 2-wheelers do.  I've been told that Twin Cam touring mufflers will fit on the trikes.  After I hear the sound etc. of the stock SE pipes/mufflers, I'll decide if I want to get a pair of black Twin Cam SE type mufflers.  If I did that, I could still purchase the Fullsac baffles from Steve to fit the Twin Cam SE mufflers like came on my '09 SERG.  I had 2.5" in them, and they sounded very nice and performed well.  "IF" I went the Twin Cam muffler route, 2" baffles may be a bit better now in this new trike application. :)

I've sat on one of the new SESG3's in Citrus Heat Tri-Tone at Motown HD in their warehouse; it was a sold trike at the time.  I thought the seat felt okay, but time will tell.  One of the reasons I went with the Citrus Heat versus the Electric Coast was the added seat stitching for the Citrus Heat.  The blue looked good, but the added orange stitching just is a bit more icing on the cake.  I think an aftermarket seat would be hard pressed to duplicate the same style as the factory seat.

If anyone has any other thoughts or suggestions, please list them!

Thanks in advance, Dan

Good choice on the bars.  I researched for days before finally deciding on mine.  I love them and my only regret was not doing it sooner.  I was looking for the narrowest (end to end) in that style of handlebar to maximize my sense of control and they fit the bill.

Yeppers, only 33.5" tip to tip without grips.  One of the narrowest around.

Don't forget a cup holder. Might want to add the smart siren 2, since it doesn't come with the alarm....no chirp from the factory.

StreetDog, now that you've had your CVO SESG3L for a bit, how's it going for you?  I see you may have had an '11 CVO 110" Twin Cam, same as my '09 SERG I sold in late September.  How would you compare the power/acceleration between the two?

I'm still waiting for mine to come in, now probably in June... :(

I have my parts waiting for the new ride.  12" LA Choppers Twin Peak bars, Adversary orange trimmed mirrors, the new fairing plug kit for the ole original mirrors, new black bumper and my new rear arm rests for the wife.  The new arm rest kits do NOT have the flip up hidden compartment anymore, just the top pad that swivels.  The pads "were" trimmed in just black vinyl and looked okay, but not comparable to the CVO seating and stitching.  So, I had to change that.  I had a friend of mine re-upholster them in black matching vinyl on the sides and black suede on the top with orange stitching and they look awesome!

One thing I saw on the Harley forum was someone with the same type of cooling, center cooling maybe, anyway, what the CVO's have on them now.  The radiator is right out there in lower front and exposed to all the road trash from the now bobbed from fenders.  The bought a Goldwing plastic lower mud flap and double stick tapped it to the inside lower of the Harley fender.  It pretty much covers the missing part of the longer front fenders.  I found one on Amazon and bought it.  I held it up at the dealership to another Street Glide Limited and it looks very nice and will do lots to keep the chit out of the radiator.  When I get my new trike and install all of the new stuff, I'll post some pictures of the mods.

But in general, is the new 121" VVT a LOT more than the 110" Twin Cam, even with the extra trike weight???

Thanks, and hope you're enjoying your new trike!
