2012 RoadGlide - Single DIN CarPlay Display
« on: April 07, 2026, 08:16:08 AM »

I have a 2012 FLTRXSE with the older single DIN radio.  I want to change it out for a Car Play display only.  I don't need/want a receiver, I am not going to sue any speakers.  I would rather just use my phone and helmet speakers, way easier to hear at highway speeds.  What has worked for any of you?

I would rather have a purpose built display that I can mount into the single-DIN hole in my dash.  I have also considered putting in a cop bike "storage tray".  Then use a RAM mount for a waterproof industrial display.  These industrial displays all run Android so I'd have to load up Google apps and use my phone form a hotspot, but that would work too.

I like it.,  I don't need the head unit, but it would work.  How does it hold up in rain and weather?

I put that same head unit on my '09 SERG and loved it...

It is 100% waterproof on the face.  In some of the first videos, they put the head unit face down in a tub of water for an extended period of time.  The head unit itself makes a BIG difference in the output to the speakers over the old HK head unit.  AND, if you do need to use GPS, just Bluetooth it and there it is.  It announces turns through the speakers too!  I bought a wireless Bluetooth adapter and put it in the right side glove box and it linked within a minute and then no issues at all.

I paid $999 for mine several years ago and the new $799 is a great deal.  It's really the simplest way to go and the best in my opinion.

Good luck!
