Excess Fuel Usage
« on: April 12, 2026, 10:08:46 AM »

Last ride noticed that the fuel gauge was going down quickly. Have been keeping a log of mpg and it has been around 30-35mpg. Last fill up it was 24mpg. Did not recall doing any fast riding or idling. Following this recent fill up the fuel gage was going down quickly, as previously stated, and the mile to empty was going down just as fast.  Checked air filter and it was clean.  Checked spark plugs and seemed normal and while out checked the gap also.  Did notice that the engine did not sound different when stopped and the rear cylinder spark plug was not firing. Have service scheduled for 4/25.  Any thoughts or suggestions as to what is causing this? :-* :confused5:

While there are different things to cause no spark, I would look at the plug wire , they have been known to rub the seam of the tank and when worn bad enough can cause short to ground.
