What causes problems with your Harley
« on: April 14, 2007, 10:41:51 AM »

Hi folks,
I was just thinking about all of the recent problems with some Harleys and was wondering where you feel the problem lies. I have had two recalls on my bike so far.

What are your two recalls?

The ignition switch and regulator letters not a real recall I guess? I had the ignition replaced but not the regulator since that letter came after my surgery.
Yet I had my 1997 Fatboy for 9 years and nothing had to be replaced other than normal maintenance.

I think they are doing what most mfg. Are doing (EXAMPLE) - they release a new 96 motor in 2007 an upgrade (110) CVO with little or no real testing and turn it lose on the general public to test it for them. Yes, they back it up with a Warranty but the down time always leaves a very bad taste.

Will the new motor be as good(relative term)  as the 88  time and $ will tell.

With almost every new release let it be cars or a new windows update for your computer theres always some issues.Theres only limited possiblities while testing at the factory than when products face real life.Only then some  unexpected problems start to arise. Most important thing is how fast they can fix things free of charge. But hey paint issues on last years Ultras??? Thats plain unexplainable they been painting same bikes for over 100 years now right??? :drink:

I agree.

My 01 had a bum radio a few years in. Other than that it was more me than the bike.

Yep, at the desk and the computer sits there all day just like I do.  With the weather improving I should be able to get out more and do some ridin' though, I do have a little pull with the boss :2vrolijk_21:

:huepfenlol2: You know I just couldn't resist. :huepfenlol2:

Hopefully weather will change here also. I haven't been out since that day I rubbed it in to you. Not sure how much I'll do next week as I just ordered 4 cubic yards of mulch. If the weather is nice the "Honey Do" list will have priorities over riding. :(

I was supposed to get a load of bark in my truck, but I figure that poor little half ton would have been buried as much rain as we've had.  Plus the guy at the bark lot hates droppin' that chit into the SRT.

Oh, and it is pissin' down like a cow on flat rock today too.

It's doing the same thing here today. When I ordered it yesterday I told them not to deliver until Monday. Didn't want it sitting there looking at me.
