« on: April 15, 2007, 02:23:37 PM »

Just getting around to hooking up my X-mas Zumo on my '04.Can't get the MP-3 funtion to work.Works OK in the car but not on the bike.I get the aux screen on the dash when I plug the patch cord in but even with both volumes up I can't get any sound.Am I missing something simple or did I get a bad patch cord from Radio Shack ??
        Thanks Jim

I can't even get mine to take any music. I load it, it seems to load okay then there is nothing there when I go to play it. :(

Not sure if this would make a difference or even how to do it, but do each of you have the latest software/firmware version? I only ask this because I'm close to pulling the trigger and ordering a Zumo and want to know all I can.

I just got mine this week and just downloaded some software to convert all my iPod stuff to MP3, I'll try to get things converted and put on the Zumo and give it a try.

Did you try wiggling the cord?  Is it playing in the car with the same cord?

Rob...I'm not sure about the Zumo, but on the 2820 you have to load in Mass Storage Mode...you should be able to go into the "new" drive that shows on the computer and see all your songs in the Zumo storage after they have been loaded, if it "took".

I was going to suggest that you get the master volume up.  (There are two volume controls and both are needed to get the Zumo to kick out strong on our radios at speed).  I'm assuming from your post that you have both up.

I would think you have a bad cord or something is wrong with your bike cradle.

The zumo loads easy, just drop the MP3's in either the Zumo /MP3 folder or create one on an SD card.  Mine works great.

Good luck!

Loading's not my problem.I'm just trying to play the junk that comes allready loaded just to make sure it works.I'm sure loading will require my finding a 8 year old to show me how.Don't need a cord to play in the car.The car mount has a built in speaker. On the bike you run a patch cord to the aux plug on the bikes radio.Guess I'll have to try a different cord or find something else to plug into the radio to make sure that's OK. Maybe a mp3 player.

On my 1999, and 2000 bikes when I plug into the AUX JACK, I have to change the radio to CD to hear the audio that is being put into the AUX jack. Not sure if the 04' is the same, but i have no problem with my Zumo on my 2000 fltrise.
Hope this helps :>)

I have downloaded from my iTunes to my Garmin.  The only thing is that you have to convert to MP3 format from AAC. (easily done on itunes).  After that, playing should be as simple as selecting Aux and hit play on the Garmin.  I would suspect you have a bad connection cord.  If you change that, and it still fails, call the Garmin technical folks at 800-800-1020.  They are great to work with and have helped me several times.  Good luck!

It's working, but don't ask me what I did.Stopped at Radio Shack this AM & they checked the cord for me.It was OK. Came home & tried it again & it works just like it's supposed to.Maybe the cord needed priming.
      Thanks for the help,Jim

Priming.. :huepfenlol2:

Maybe you didn't have your zumo making good connection to the mount?

Glad to hear it's working for you.  It's an awesome unit.  I really like mine.

That could be it.Looking foreward to using it on the bike.Had it to the west coast & back in the car & it never ceases to amaze me what it can do.Really great in cities you're not familiar with.

Glad it's working.  Sometimes it helps to use a little electrical connection grease, (sold at the HD dealer) to make good connections.  Suspect the cord wasn't seated into one of the recepticals.  I know you'll enjoy the hours of tunes.  Good riding.

Now that I've got the mp3 player to work how do I delete the songs that were loaded when I got it.
     Thanks, Jim
