Oil Pressure loss resulting in engine failure
« on: April 16, 2007, 06:53:37 AM »

Has anyone experienced the above condition. My 2006 cuse has approx 20000klm and suffered sever oilpressure drop when hot, resulting in cam bearing collapse. No other prior symptoms, no unusual engine noise.

Bummer haven't heard of that one yet.  Several have had issues but they have been heat related.  Sounds like a bad oil pump.

Several oil pumps have imploded on different bikes, not enough to be chronic though.

Here's an old thread link to one: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=3741.0

PaulQ, I'm curious is the bike stock, or have you changed pipes or intake?

With 20k on the clock I would bet the tensioners sh*t the bed and took out the oil pump.......

I assume you opened the motor up to see the bearing, how did the tensioners look? Was the oil pump scored?

Also, what kind of oil were you running?

On a FLHTCUSE2, I have had the same pressure drop due to engine having high heat.  I think MoCo has gone to far in running the 110 too lean. I can't wait to see what happens when summer comes. :-\
