Throttle Friction Control
« on: November 24, 2004, 11:02:15 PM »

[smiley=nixweiss.gif]I bought the friction kit that fits the non cruise control bikes with the intent of putting it on my new Seeg . The switch housing is to large to alow the control wheel to fit where it is supose to. Has anyone here cured this problem or am i the only one who really doesn`t like a cruise control ?
Thanks

Problem is DW , here in E Tenn there are very few roads that you can kick on a Cruise control with out heading into another curve . I just never really get the chance to use it.

You'd rather use a friction throttle lock rather instead of the electronic cruise control?

Oh that is so not fair to have a playground like that right in your own backyard.  Screw the cruise control and the throttle lock.  Just twist it, drop a knee, and hold the hell on!  [smiley=beerchug.gif]

Wow!  Looks like one of those areas that a guy just has to ride.  Am planning a trip up to Nashville and Memphis for an early spring ride.  I'm sure its on the website somewhere, but can you pinpoint the area for us relative to one of the major cities?  Would definately like to spend a couple of days playing in the area!!!!!!  No, don't see any use for cruise control.  Thanks.

That section of road that is refered to as the Dragon is just outside Maryville, Tn on hwy 129. It starts about 11 miles from the NC,TN state line and winds up the mountain through about 113 curves to Deals Gap which sits on the state line. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

YOU DO NOT RIDE DEALS GAP EVERY DAY!. If you can't use cruise, but can use a throttle lock.... well you need help. I use cruise in my neighborhood, on city streets, everywhere in my car, company car and bike. It saves me tickets. I drive 1000 - 1500 miles a week and HAVE NEVER seen a situation where a non self adjusting throttle lock would be better than a cruise. I used to camp in tennessee, they have curvy roads, But if you look they also have Interstates.

What good would a throttle lock do you on this road?

I live here in the mountains of NC not that far from Deals gap myself but I wouldn't give up my cruise under any circumstances. I know it's personal preference, but coming off of bikes with no cruise to the SEEG with cruise I just can't imagine any conditions where I would rather have the friction lock. I will say that it takes a little time for the cruise operation to become second nature, and more that a few times I pushed the button the wrong direction or pushed the wrong button entirely, but now that I am getting accustomed to it, I would be lost without it.
