Actually..... for what it's worth this is an area where I've already found benefit from the Progressive shocks.

I second that. The shocks really have improved all aspects of the ride. I have the 12" standards and have them set on the #2 setting which is a little stiff when riding alone (I'm 175lbs.) but good when my girl is on the back. One thing I have noticed is that when I hit a good sized bump the shocks take it well and rebound nicely. When I hit a small sharp bump the shocks seem to rebound rather harshly and there is a loud clunking noise coming from the swingarm pivot bolt area. Doesn't really alarm me as I think that is the characteristic of this gas shock to sense the severity of the bump, but am wondering if anybody else notices this.
Also, I had one HD tech tell me the wobble is due to the rather steep head angle of these bikes, which I like at least for the around town maneuverability. It is a little unnerving at high speeds though.

I've noticed no wobble at all in my scoot from highway speeds all the way through the rpm range to as fast as she'll go.  I'm set up with 440's clicked to the second notch, max air pressure in the tires and run with no tour pak.  My '03 Ultra would go into a lazy wobble at about 80 and became rather severe around 100.  That bike was ridden with the tour pak on.  From a very unscientific viewpoint, I'd try your bike without the tour pak and see if there is a noticeable difference in the wobble.  (Very small tire pressure variances, front to rear, can also make a considerable difference.)  Good luck

The wobble exists in every inline two wheel vehicle ever made. (laws of physics apply here) To minimize these problems for yourself, make certain that your bike(s) are in perfect alignment, tire pressures are correct, and shocks/springs (both front and rear) are set correctly for the load you are carrying.  There are articles and links provided on this site to give you the knowledge to accomplish this.  Additional help can be had by stiffening the swingarm assembly or changing it out to a stiffer assembly.

I hear the clunk to when going over some bumps but figured it was the shock topping out.  The wobble comes from loading/overloading the rear of the bike tour pak, t-bag which makes the front end very light.  That is the only time the bike has wobbled.

I think it is the shocks topping out as well, it just sounds like it is coming from somewhere else. Do you have the 440,s?

Yes the 440's am going to call progressive to see why and if it is a problem and if it can be corrected(lighter spring or if it has rebound adjustment).

Channing, glad you got off that bike.  It sounds like nothing more than an accident waiting for a place to happen.  Even better is that you found something (and someplace) you like even better.  The new dealership sounds like a joy to work with.  This begs the question, however, of who was the HD dealership that was so completely remiss in putting out efforts to help address your problems?  That's a shop anyone interested should be looking to avoid.

Hey MFG I think you should check to see if your finnegan pin is missing, it sounds like it is!! if it isn't make sure your fractet housing is sealed and tightened properly (23 ft. lb. torque) and that will fix your problem!!! [smiley=1syellow1.gif]

I blame the "piston return springs". I have now cured mine by hitting these with a "glass hammer" then driving in a "leather wedge". I intend to purchase a "long stretch" to further improve my SEEG when I get it. If you struggle getting one of these Stateside then try asking the parts man for a "long wait".

Hey, JCZ and Twolanerider... and all other readers who are interested...

I hope the dealer in Temple, Texas is able to sell the bike.. yeah, it was up for sale about a week after they bought it back from me... see:
http://www.bellcountyharley.com/new_vehicle_detail.asp?sid=0765072X12K14K2004J9I33I58JAMQ1001R0&veh=8719&pov=147260

It has about 100 more miles than when I sold it to them...so maybe they fixed it... [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]
