That was while moving at 60-75 mph, why don't you try it and then question the result or please post yours, nothing beats redundant data.  The other difference is flhrse3 with fairing vs the uc.

It appears the air cooling and oil coolers work well with whilst runnin.  I took seveal measurments while riding and will continue them as data builds, just to make sure fishiness gets slowly removed.

You are a suspcious bugger aren't you.  ;-)

Miker

If you were shooting while moving, then it sounds like you were getting temps of the fins while they were being cooled. At least that's what it sounds like to this suspicious bugger.

Yup, shootin and movin....I thought I was in the same area, but multiple readings may help.  I think it is fishy to base findings on limited data.  The confidence coefficient is to low.  Were your measurments with fairing lowers on?

At least they appear close enough to agree on the 340-380 ish thing now that you have me on the correct side.

Nice weekend in KC. Ran 150 miles Sunday 85 deg. Took my infrared along for the ride and rear jug was 404 deg front jug was 386   :zwtf: . Temps measured at the flat area at spark plugs.

Should I be concerned ?

No mods on exhaust or breather

Were you 2up?  Was it at idle after cruising along?  Concerned, I don't know....

Riding solo just came off the freeway, parked the bike shut her down and put the infrared on her. I have a 3200 mile trip approaching in June. Just don't want any issues

Yes lowers on and vents open. Wont get a chance to ride again until this weekend. Rain. Send results this weekend

In all honesty, I think you're pushing the upper limits. 386 on the front jug is plenty hot, and 400 on the rear is real hot. That's got to be murder on the valve components.

Have you considered a SERT or PC to get some more fuel in there to cool it down? You're probably getting pretty good mileage, but at what cost. If those temps are repeatable and somewhat common, I'd be uncomfortable enough to buy a SERT, PC or TMax / Auto Tune.

If I get out to ride this weekend, I'll try to get some new numbers now that things are warming up around here.

I also have seen 380-390 a few times, yesterday the temp was 90-95 riding 2 up and the rear head seen 387 @ one time. Sure is hot on the Thighs!
That was taken with a cooking probe that stays tied between the 2 head bolts going right by the spark plug. With a digital readout on the dash. Has a stainless probe with a stainless cable that connects to a (outside the Oven Monitor) LCD readout. Wal-Mart,$18.00 / It is right with the oil temp dipstick readout of the mornings before the bike is started, So I think it is pretty accurate.
   Oil temp was around 240

That's a good idea.

I looked into a real CHT probe, but Westach, the most popular supplier of aviation CHT equipment, only has them as small as 14mm, not the 12mm we need for our plugs. I would like to replace the useless rain gauge with a CHT gauge. It wouldn't match, but sure would be more useful than the air temp.

<EDIT>I called Westach, and they do have 12MM CHT probes. I'm looking into installing one on my rear jug. Will report back.</EDIT>

Yes, I can watch the temp while riding. When it gets high, I can place my feet out front on my cruise pegs (on enging guards) and watch the temp fall immediately. It comes down fast. My feet and legs funnel fresh air to the rear cylinder. However that only works while moving obivously.
I have yet to see my dummy light come on , like at a red light. Which should come on when front cylinder is 325. Which you stated in another post. JUST HOW "HOT"
WOULD THE REAR BE IF THE FRONT GETS TO 325? My guess is 400-425
  Now that is SCARY!!!!!!!

Rain cleared up this evening. Had a chance to ride to an Officers meeting for HOG at the dealership. Temp 74 deg. Rode 12.5 miles, two miles at freeway speed. Pulled into the Service department let idle and immediately measured temps. Front was 387 and rear was 408. The tech I trust was there and seen it himself. They asked that I leave the bike. He told me the Factory Rep was in town on Wednesday. (good timing). Hence I bummed a ride home. Ill let you know what they say.
