I don't have a lot to compare with, but for me, my corbin seat is fantastic as far as comfort goes.  Unfortuneately, my tan ostrich solo seat is now four-five years old and is starting to really show a lot of wear.  The colour of the seat has changed a lot, the piping leather has worn out completely where there is contact and so I am considering ordering a new one just because it does not look as good as I'd like it to.  If it were black, the problems I speak of would be invisable.  The feeling is still wonderful, just the look is starting to look less than perfect.  That is just the colour though.

Best is pretty subjective, but I'll say for all day comfort my Corbin is hard to beat . Some like Mustangs, And Bill Mayer and his son Rick both make great seats too.

I think most would agree Corbin seats are better looking than Mustang. Leather verses vinyl, the way they are stitched and and color options all contribute to a great looking seat.  Comfort is another matter.   Most feel Corbin's are hard for about 1k miles then they break in to your butt and are very comfortable.  Some never experience that comfort and sell them on ebay.  The Mustang is comfortable from day one.
If I was sure my butt would eventually like the Corbin, that would have been my choice.  I went with the Mustang on my last 3 bikes.
Just my 2 cents.

My Corbin is the only thing that lets me do a 500 mile day in comfort.  From day one it was 100% better than stock, and only got better after break in.

I prefer Mustang to Corbin.  If my butt could speak that is what it would say, too.  Reminds me - maybe I should have beans for lunch.....

When it comes to seats, handlebars, pegs/boards/grips, etc. there are lots of "bests" depending on who wants what for their ride.  Otherwise, it might get boring if we all agreed on everything.

I have never owned a Corbin seat, so maybe I shouldn't express an opinion, but what the hell!

I have put mustang seats on every bike I have owned (except for the SERK), and I have loved them from the first moment cheek touched seat.  I think they look good, wear good, feel good, and most of the time, they are priced good.  Seats are a very subjective thing.  My Dad swears by La Pera, they have always worked for him why change.  Mustang seats have always treated me well, why should I pay more for a Corbin.  Corbin people feel the same way about they're seats.

Ultimately, you'll just have to put your backside into a seat and decide what feels right for you.

Later,
Ghost

Don;
You'll love the Corbin! Make an appointment and go have it made. They will tailor the seat to your a$$ for a perfect fit.

The problem with a seat is that you really can't tell much about it without putting a few hundred miles on the bike.  The stock seat feels good in the showroom, but after a short time it felt like I was sitting on the seat pan...the foam collapses.  The Corbin feels hard, but is supportive in all the right places.

Don...do you live anywhere near JCZ, Spiderman?  They both have Corbins so you might get a feel for it, at least.

One thing to keep in mind with a Corbin is that in effect the seat will be a bit higher, unless you specify it to be thinner than normal, because the foam does not squish down when you are seated.  You can also get a "nose job" on the seat which makes the part where your thighs are when your feet are on the ground a bit narrower for better foot placement.  If you're 6 feet tall, that's not a big deal, but if you're my height it really helps.

I've heard good things about Mustangs and La Pera too, plus a few custom builds (Rjob).  As Mike mentioned, it's a pretty subjective thing.  I was able to recoup about half the price of my Corbin by selling the old seat on e-bay.

Thanks all, I have one on the Fatboy but never ride it very much and your all right it's hard when you first set down, and thinking about a long ride it seems like your a$$ is going to hurt. Was just curious on how many had corbin's and your thoughts. We might take a run over to Corbin Saturday and have a look around, they have ride in's it called on Sat. Keep the thoughts coming seems like almost a tie between corbin & mustang.

Don

Don, I went through a number of seats over the years and everything from Comfort Stitch (soft, plush) to Corbin (hard, firm) and I can tell you that my Corbin hasn't came off of the bike since I put it on.  Remember, we rode 3,000 miles across this country in June.

I'd suggest that the two of you ride over to Hollister on a Friday evening (just a short ride for you two).  Spend the night and be at Corbin's when they open on Sat. morning.  You can pick your seat style then have the stitch pattern of your choice put on them and ride them home that afternoon.  They have a little restaurant that you can hang out in or just sit and watch your seat being made.  But it's pretty much an all day affair.............take a look at this slide show...........

Don there are so many variations on leather types, colors, piping, etc. and just about any lines that can be drawn can be stitche into it.  They can also make your seat where you sit closer to the handlbars or further away.  They really can be custom fitted.
