Corbin Seats For '07 SERK's!
« on: April 25, 2007, 01:09:08 AM »

There's been a lot of Corbin questions lately, but I haven't seen any related to the '07 SERK's. Does Corbin make their seat the way want it? Would they make an '07 SERK style seat, but set up with a larger passenger area, with the matching flames? Anyone look into Corbin for '07 SERK's yet? Can a heated seat easily be added to the SERK? Does the heating elements take away from the seat comfort? How is the heat controlled. Is it thermostatic or on-off control? Can I wire it to the Aux Switch on the Nacelle? I'm not sure the stock seat will cut it on long trips, especially the passenger section. My old faithful RK Touring bucket's kinda shot, and doesn't really go with the style of this bike. I'd like to find a good looking Corbin alternative. Thanks. Hoist! 8)

Howie,

The seat Corbin offers has a low/high setting, just like Harly offers.  There is a 3 position switch (off/low/high) on the left side of the seat.  I suppose it could be wired to the ACC switch, but figure hard wiring it in with a fuse, would be preferable.

I sat on the dual heated seat Corbin is making for the 07 SEUlt's & it's a typical 'firm' Corbin seat.  Matches damn good - stitching, ostrich insert, etc.  Lots of friends ride on Corbin & we get to their store In Daytona fairly often.

Here's the link to their solo for the 07  http://www.corbin.com/harley/baggers/hdflh97cvos.shtml

Don't think the heating element affects seat comfort since its below the foam.  There is a link on Corbin's site to contact them - best to ask them directly on your specifics.  Great company & they do aim to please.

Thanks Mike. I don't see anything for SERKs on their site. I'll try contacting them and see what they offer. Hoist! 8)

I've been asking too... Mt pal finally got his 06 seu seat...It is nice.  They told me to come in and they will try and find one to fit.  They had a seat for serk before but I don't think it was flamed...The fat boy seat looks flamed though..

I may just ride up to Ormond beach and see fer myself...butt there in lies the problem.

Please let us know if you find out anything.

If you buy direct from Corbin, they will put on any design you want.  If you buy a part from a dealer such as J&P you can make no changes from the seat they stock.  I don't even know by feel that the heated elements are under the seat but their nice on colder days.
Like Iski stated, there is a low and a high but does not have a thermostat control.  After 1 hour, if you still need the heat you have to shut the heater off and then turn back on to high or low.

Bob...the heater elements are located under an additional very thin piece of softer foam, at most 1/4" thick.  I think it has a resistance type controller...not adjustable, other than high/low, but reduces current to the elements when temps reach somewhere around 105-107 on high to avoid overheating.  So it's not really a t'stat, but it's not just wide a$$ed open either.  Howie...you know what Im talking about being from the HVAC industry.

Bob is right on the money...if you deal with Corbin directly they can make you a seat with flames, etc, colored stitching...wild or mild.  They will not have a seat particular to the SERK but for all RK's.  They make the SEUC special seat because of the Ostrich pattern down the center of the seat.  That would be hard to duplicate radomly, so they used Big Al's for a prototype back last year sometime.

Howie...check this one out:  http://www.corbin.com/harley/king/hdrk6dt.shtml

The stitch pattern can be flames as well...in fact, a stitch pattern is required if the seat has heat in it.  Also read the text below the pictures to ensure your backrest will work as is (passenger).

I would hard wire the seat to your fuse box...the seat comes with the connectors necessary to do this.  Even if wired directly to the battery and you forget to turn it off, it's only going to run for a total of one hour from "on" time, then will shut itself off.  To reset timer, just turn seat switch off, then back on, or if you wire to an on/off circuit in the bike controlled by the ignition switch, the timer will reset with the ignition switch.

Terry, thanks for the info. I saw that seat, but wanted it to mimick the stock seat in looks, while providing the Corbin functionality I'm looking for. It sounds like they'll do that. I'll have to contact them to discuss the options I have. The stock SERK seat is fine with me, but the passenger seat falls way short. As this is my trip bike, and most of my trips are with a very important passenger, I need that to be comfortable for her too! ;) Hoist! 8)

fits yet. I would check up on the web for the latest updates.

It took them a year to get the 06 Ultra seat done, lets hope it is a little faster for serk because I can only go about a tank of gas and I am ready to quit for the day whereas my 03 I would almost run out of gas because I was comfy with no monkey butt or hot spot in my back....I am glad I kept the old seat , it just looks funnt on the 07 serk.

i stopped at corbins new shop during bike week looking for a different seat..they make several that fit.a 2007 se road king.i tried several before settling on a younggun since i ride mostly solo..i did try the duel touring and it did fit good.they also said they could put the flames on one if you special ordered it..i did not ask if they could put a heating element in one..if you want to see which seats they make for the 07 se king go to their web site click on roadking and scroll down to 1997 to 2005 models..when you click on a seat go to where it says order..it wiil have 2 seats listed..one will be 1997 to 2005 se roadking..these fit the 07 fine..my younggun and the touring seat that i tryed fit like a glove...hope this helps.........
