Another newbie question..

Can the Bluetooth in the Zumo be configured to talk to the Bluetooth option in our HK radio's so we don't have to use the aux port?

Sorry if this is redundant, but I have spent a considerable amount of time looking and now just want to jump straight to an answer...

So Spydglide or anyone else, has anyone rigged their 550 with the GXM 30 XM Smart Antenna in a method that allows them to move both pieces to their cage?

Also, I know I saw a pic here somewhere that showed the 550 with the XM Smart Antenna on one mount, the antenna was just behind the 550... anyone have that picture or know where it is hidden?

And yes Gary, if/when I make the leap, I will be getting the flaming cover to go along with... but right now the best I can find is ~$650, so the search continues... Thanks all!  :2vrolijk_21:

I believe this is the thread/post you are looking for - Garmin XM Radio Mounting Hardware.

Will there be an O/B bike to go w/the O/B flamed cover? Didn't want to say this to loud in case Mrs.We doesn't know about it yet. ;)

That danged ole ugly antenna is the pain in the azz in this whole set-up.  I purchased the 'mount' for the hockey puck but I'm not using it 'cause it is ugly sitting up there.  Right now my antenna is in the pocket of my left lower fairing.  That's all I've figured out so far to keep it 'portable' from the bike to the other vehicles.  And of course if you're gonna keep it convertable like that, you've got to keep the antenna wire mounted in a temp. fashion.  I know there's a way, I just haven't hit on it yet.  Part of the problem is mounting the antenna where it gets good reception.  That limits the solutions.  Someone is gonna figure this one out (I'm hoping)  :-\ har!  spyder

LOL!  No, PortHole........remember beauty/ugly is in the eyes of the beholder(whatever that means).......It sure didn't look right on my bike.  The zumo with the chrome mount look kinda 'whingy', but ok, but add that hockey puck antenna and...... :o....it's just ugly.  What can I say?  :nixweiss:  har!  spyder

Spyd...I guess this is just one of those function over form things.  You'll enjoy the XM so much it will overide the butt ugly hockey puck.  Of course, there IS a solution to your dilema...buy a second hockey puck!!

Wanda June's feelings are hurt 'cause you said the Techmount/Garmin unit looked "Wingy".  She's down in the basement pouting now... :( :(

Only downside w/having two "hockey pucks" is wouldn't that require two subscriptions to XM?

Absolutely, Terry.  The constant pull between the form vs. function in all that we do to our beloved machines.  That's why the choppers look so good.  Clean w/o all the storage space, instruments, etc.  I've gone over the hill on the GPS deal and could never go back now....it's too neat to have all that info right there on the handlebar, I just wish it was built into the fairing dash like the tach, speedo, and other instruments.  You don't have the big hockey puck on your dash do you?  The one Duane and I are talking about is the one that has the reciever with the XM subscription built in so that it's like JC found out that if you hide it under the fairing, you can't just buy another antenna w/o paying for another subscription for ea. antenna.  Not only is that hockey puck big and ugly, but it's got all that extra length of wire that has to be dealt with.  I think Duane did the very best you can do with the wire, but the way my Zumo is mounted, I can't figure a way to accommodate the antenna in a decent looking manner. (That's probably why D00d hasn't added the XM to his...har!)  You go down and tell Wanda June that I'm gonna make it up to her with a chrome present to make amends next time I see her.  :-* har!  :drink: spyder

Hadn't thought of that, Gary...since the XM is both receiver and transmitter, I guess you would.  Bummer, plus, they don't give those XM receivers away either.  $$$$   But, for a man of Spydys means, that's just pocket change... :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :drink:

Wanda June got a bath yesterday, so we'll be taking a little spin when the roads dry out and the sun comes out this afternoon...that'll make her feel better. :2vrolijk_21:

Question to the more learned...

I will be installing my HawgWired speakers in the front fairing very soon.  I also have the Zumo 550 and the GXM30 "hockey puck". While I have the fairing off, where can I install it under the fairing?

I have a HW amp that will sit on top of the radio?  :nixweiss: Also, any suggestions on what to do with the wire when not plugged in to the unit?  This antenna will not be used for anything else other than on my bike.

Actually never had XM or Sirius so one of those cases don't miss what I've never had. Coming from a bike w/no radio then having the ability of AM/FM/WB/CD was a big jump. Having a young adult in the house helped with getting music burned to CD's, and now that I have MP3 capabilities with a couple of 4 GB SD cards I've enough music to last me during a ride.
