Just got an email that Mad Maps routes are downloadable from Garmin for the Zumo 450 and 550, and some of the Nuvis.

Does anyone know how/if I can take the music I've downloaded via iTunes to my computer for my iPod and get it onto the SD disk in my ZUMO?  Thanks.

H,
The itune song (track) is copy protected and would also be in an MP4 format. Of course, for playing your tunes on a Zumo, you need to convert the songs to an MP3 format. Several software packages out there will work; Here's the one I use.

Sound Taxi Platinum
http://www.soundtaxi.info/

You can download a demo on the prgm; however the demo will only convert like 30 seconds of the sound track.

Hope this helps.

Well, my 30 day old Zumo was DOA today..... ARGHHHHH.... >:(
Completely dead in the water, no power up, not able to recognize via the computer, nothing.

I pulled the battery and replaced a few minutes later, and it did boot up o.k. (fingers crossed)..
Calling Garmin in the AM for a battery replacement.

Anyway, something to keep in mind if you encounter any problems with no power-up.

The original battery was dead after 30 days?  Or you pulled it to let it do a complete reboot?  Interested in Garmin's response to this.

Once I pulled and replaced, then it would power up..... haven't used in since last night.
The battery packs appear to be a known issue based on forums and Garmin did acknowledge to me this morning they have had some problems with the batteries. The tech support rep states the battery should last 3+ yrs, but they are seeing problems.

They are sending out a new battery today.

For a full backup including your basemaps, etc. >
With your Zumo hooked up to your computer, navigate to the GARMIN drive and copy the entire garmin folder to your computer.

Quickie for address, etc. >
An easy way to get just your  address, waypoints, etc. would be to import them into mapsource and save a map file.

Thanks.  One reason I chose the 550 was the replaceable battery.  Good to know Garmin stands behind their product.

So far no issues with mine but it's less than 3 months old.

Thanks for keeping us up to date Gary! :2vrolijk_21:

One day I'll actually learn to use the program too! But for now, at least it's up to date! :o :D

I used the Zumo for the first time going back and forth to York Tues/Wed. It seems to work OK. But it always told me to go the shortest way, which can be good, I guess. But the Zumo ain't from the NE. It wants to send you thru the worst traffic or the most congested ways, instead of the clearest way (which are slightly longer), which I know without a Zumo or a map. WTH do you do in areas you're not familiar with? If that thing routes me thru traffic or conjestion in areas I'm not familiar with, it'll probably wind up in the trash! :nixweiss:
