The HD on the Zumo is 1.20 GB and currently I'm using 1.19GB (16.5MB free). See pic below.

One other thing to check is to make sure you only have one map image on your Zumo. If you click on "wrench" > "map" > "map info" you should only see one map (see pic below) stored on your Zumo. If you have other maps showing (if you are in the US/Canada and haven't loaded any other maps/countries it should appear like the pic below) more then likely you have sent extra maps to the Zumo when importing routes. These duplicate images will take up extra space and aren't needed.

When I updated my maps I did get the message that it needed more space, but it only deleted the MP3's that came preloaded. I did have 1 extra splash screen, and 1 extra vehicle icon and both those stayed on the Sumo w/o any problem.

Oh yeah, thanks Gary, I deleted these too! ;)

It's all good... we just need to keep our fingers crossed that the NA maps never exceed the HD size. :nervous:

Don't count on it Gary. I asked the Garmin guy that yesterday, and he told me they update 4x a year, and that pretty soon it will exceed the capacity. It gets bigger each time they update it. :nixweiss:

What would be wrong with using a 'card' for more memory?   :-\spyder

Well if you use a cards full of MP3's, you lose that ability, and will only be able to listen to the songs you can squeeze on the map SD card. ;)

I've done two so far and haven't noticed any difference. Each update loads an entire new image and it would take a lot of new data to max out. I'll have to check to see what size the actual map image is also. I've still got all my TTS voices that came stock w/the Zumo so I've got some deleting I can do if needed.

Be interesting to see what the HD capacity is on the 660.

There have been people that have used memory cards to store maps, but like Hoist said unless you get the largest card that will work in the Zumo then you're going to loose music. Another question would be can it read the map data and play music at the same time if that's your choice and/or will it affect either one while doing it (slow/choppy/etc). :nixweiss:

I cleared out the vehicle and voice files... there are also a whole bunch of text files that are in other languages you can delete as well!

Thanks for the info.

So I guess you were "wrestling" with the problem, d00d?  ;)

From what I've read 16GB is the largest.
