Legend Air Ride Gauge?
« on: May 02, 2007, 11:52:26 PM »

Hey guys, I am patiently waiting on the Legend air ride shocks to come off back order. They should be available by next week or so. From all the positive reviews here, i think i will be really happy with them.

Now for my question. Does anyone have the fairing mounted gauge installed on a touring bike? Was just curious to quality and looks. I know they had problems with the rocker mounted gauges and have since discontinued them from their line. Kevin said they were available but did not give me a price yet.

Also does anyone have a pic of how they installed the stock air feed fitting into the system. I know there was pics up in the group but thread but they have been deleted, or i just can't see them.

Thanks for any help guys....

DSMB,
the current switch is a handle bar mounted switch ( chrome and not) that goes on front of clutch housing. will get pix later if someone doesn't beat me to it. Looks like a factory install, no problems. Price for chrome was $160.  If you go through this post will see pix of install (and maybe switch somewhere by Terry aka TCBnham)  Hope that helps John

I'm still waiting for a guage they were talking about making for the fairing that matches the ones we have now. I'd like to be able to find a few reference points, i.e. 2 up on highway, 1 up in twisties settings etc. also, I find myself taking off with them all the way down alot. I dont care that much if the gauge jumps around , but would find it much easier to find the sweet spots in different situations and go right to that exact pressure without guessing. and 'yes' there is diffently sweet spots. Finding them is another story, I'm wearing this $150 switch out.

Also, for those who have the legends now, how low do you ride with them, Im a little paranoid about riding a long way with them too low, (Belt-tension, or bottoming out issues)

Mike,
I had a post a while back where my right rear shock would not hold pressure ( a valve in the shock had bad fitting), sent to legnd overnight had back in two days ( i talked to ryan about the gauge, i think it still may on double secret probation). Works fine now. I can tell you that for about 100 miles mine were down on the 9.5 setting, and while I have never ridden a hardtail, after that experience I can only imagine what it is like and it was not fun.
When two up riding with no gear I usually lower 0.5 inches seems to be a little easier to handle than full extension.
I have not tried any other different settings to determine a sweet spot, was just glad they held air!!! Get my traxxion set up next week and should have real sweet riding machine! John

otophile when you say 9.5 setting what does that indicate? 9.5" from center to center of the shock bolt holes?

That is the lowest shock height setting(per literature fully compressed and not safe to ride on), and the upper is 13inches (though have never measured I assume it is bolt hole to bolt hole-now I will have go and measure) John

I'd appreciate that measurement as I thought the tire made fender contact around 10".

I ask as I have been experimenting and I have been using 10 1/2" as my lowest collapsed number. This way if it were to fail it would be ridable and safe. I may loose an inch of lowering but I'm willing to give that up for safety. :2vrolijk_21:

puzzled,
I stand corrected ( i guess that is what i get for quote literature sheet, insteading of checking myself!). Full length 13" bolt hole to bolt hole. Fully compressed 10" bolt hole to bolt hole. John
