He's Baaaaack
« on: May 03, 2007, 08:56:33 AM »

Hi gang,
I've been absent from the board for a couple of months..., busy with life, starting a new business and riding the new SERK.  I just got back from a 2600 mile trip from Texas to northern Arizona, Sedona, the Grand Canyon, Tucson, and Ruidosa.  I love lots of things about the SERK but during the trip I decided that I'm going to go the way of dood and Colbaltman.  I'm selling it and I have my name on a SEUC that's coming in June.
If anyone knows someone that wants a SERK that's road ready, complete with SERT and other extras, send em my way.

Just wondering, what was it that made you decide to switch?  They are both beautiful bikes, woundnt it be great if you could keep both, maybe the wife would like to learn to ride??

Also congrats on your new business.  That isnt easy, but I always thought that my worst day working for myself is better than my best day working for someone else.  Or as my dad used to tell me, if youre gonna work for an a$$hole, it may as well be yourself.

20 here, the thing I like best is if I feel like ridin' I do (if my partner(wifey) agrees) & the bank account is topped off!

The things that made me decide to move up are:
1.  I'm 61 and have earned the right to be on a geezer glide with all the creature comforts after tons of miles on Road Kings
2.  I just took a 2600 mile trip on the SERK and it beat me to death.  It was in no way comparable to a RKC in comfort.  For some reason, even with the full sized RK windshield, I seem to catch a lot more air than on the RKC.  I took a 4000 mile trip on my '04 RKC last June with no problems or discomfort at all.
3.  After moving the rider backrest bracket back to allow the backrest to not throw me forward, a bigger, Sundowner type seat wouldn't fit on the SERK.

I'm sure there are other reasons I could come up with but that's the driving issues.

And thanks to all for the thoughts on the new business.  It's not my first but I'm really excited about this one.  I'm buying an underperforming quick lube that needs to be turned around.

Geezer glides are a great way to travel,  the mile just roll by.  Set the cruise and go.

Nothing even comes close to a Road Glide. With the weight of the fairing off the handlebars, hanging on for the ride is just a matter of keeping one hand on one grip an staying alert enough to hit the brakes if needed. Once you've ridden a Road Glide on a long trip, everything else is just -- - - - - - - -- well it's just everything else

Good luck with the new business and selling the SERK...too bad it is not cobalt!  :)
Honestly can't blame you for wanting comfort for the long hauls, though.

Man, wait until Hoist reads this >:(

Congrats on the new business and great choice on the SEUC.  I am totally happy with my decision to switch from the SERK (great looking bike) to the  SEUC  (great looking and comfortable).

Are you going to list the bike on EBay, HDTRader, or some other online entity?  I sold my Heritage after listing it on Ebay.  It went to a local buyer.

John,

Do NOT be intimidated or apologize. There's strength in numbers dude. The numbers don't lie!

Glad you're liking the scooter! I'd buy the same thing again if I had it to do over. I may possibly get a trip on mine this summer to Houston. If I do, I may detour through Grapevine Texas, since i have some family there. If I do, I'll let ya know.

Hoist? Bagels in Clinton? dieing laughing here.
