Rear Speakers on SEEG?
« on: December 04, 2004, 10:09:58 PM »

Apologize for asking this question without having done a bit of homework first.  Hell, I didn't even glance at a wiring diagram.   It's easy to get lazy when it's this close to Christmas.  However....  what I'm wondering is if anyone knows if the stereo and electrcial system on the 05 bikes will support rear speakers?

Have recently got the King tour pak and the addition makes the mounting space available for rear speaker pods.  So if the bike's in place electrcial system will accomodate it I'd be interersted.  I'm not interested enough in doing it to consider or justify swapping radios or adding an amp or anything like that.  But if it's moderately easy given what's in the bike to begin with I'd probably make the addition.  Just wondering if anyone had been there or done that.

Well this is all outstanding news.  Cause the more I thought about it I really didn't want to screw with it anyway  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif].  Passenger can just reach around and fiddle with the driver's volume control if she needs to fiddle with anything.

If you really wanted to hook up rear speakers you could change the front speakers to 8 ohm speakers and use 8 ohm speakers in the rear wired in parallel with the front which would give you an effective load of 4 ohms. The only draw back would be that the volume would be the same both front and back unless you installed a fader. That would change the resistance somewhat as it was adjusted but I don't think it would be a problem because you would be increasing the resistance as you lowered the volume on the rear, or front. More resistance would not be a problem.

Does anyone know if the speaker pods from a Ultra will fit our chopped tour paks? The speaker situation does not seem to be that big of a deal to me, just change the frt speakers to 4 ohm and match the frt & rear. But I do not want them bad enough to install one of the ugly a.. full size tour paks. I saw a green bike today with full size pak, UGLY. But then I bought a chopped pak for my last bike, so  I just like them better. The pods on the small pak just CAN not look as bad as those arm rests sticking out on a full size pak.

Sorry but.. You must be very old to think that full size pak looks better. The oversize pak is bad enough, but that god awful "arm rest" deal!! Whew, might as well buy a Gold Wing.
My opinion.

As long as we're giving opinions, I might as well throw mine in!  The scoot really only needs look good to the guy who wrote the check and added the many $$$$'s to make it personal.  Whether it's tour paks, coon tails or mud flaps I think most of us buy CVO's to start with a limited production unit and take it another couple of levels to have a unique, yet resaleable bike.  "Ugly" as well as beauty is definately in the eye of the beholder and to no small extent with the guys I've ridden with all my life, you need to be a really "bad mutha" to tell someone that their scoots' "ugly". Speaker pods on a chopped pak?  Talk about uuuugggg . . . .   Whoops!  I almost said the "u" word.  Hey, if it floats your boat, DW, go for it.  I highly doubt they'd fit, though, since the "chopping" is done on the box, not the lid.

But what do I know?  I have a king pak and that "god-awful" backrest with the arm rest thing-ies.  Dummy me.  I guess I should've bought a Gold Wing.[smiley=dunce2.gif]  After all, I am gonna be 38 in a few days.  It sucks to be old.  [smiley=cry2.gif]

I have a whole different take on the full size tour pak.
Wife says chopped tour pak too small and not comfortable.
Wife says full sized tour pak with armrests good.
Wife says now the SEEG is as comfortable as ours friends FLHTCUI.
Wife says now we can ride.
I say case closed. [smiley=beerchug.gif]

I'm with Mobe. The wife lets me have this incredible machine, doesn't complain when I spend hours in the garage or on the road (if she doesn't come) and doesn't give me a hard time when I come home with bags full of goodies from the store. If she says "I'm not comfortable", you fix it, plain and simple. As far as I'm concerned, I would rather sacrifice a little custom look and have my wife ride with me than look cool and her stay home.  Just my .02 [smiley=biggthumpup.gif]

See now Mobe and Laker have got it together.  Bikes are cool (we'll all admit).  Girls are even cooler (nearly all of us will admit).  Girls and bikes together are even coolest of all (even God would admit)!
