So, you go to a dealer who apparently doesn't even know that HD makes a Garage door opener, though the kits are sitting all over the dealership shelves here in B'ham, asks the customer how it works, then blames it on a system that has got absolutely nothing to do with the function of the transmitter located under the fairing?  Do these guys look anything like the guy playing banjo in Deliverance?

LOL Good one TCnBhm. you know, it's the same ole BS. Good people, decent mechanics, booming business, but, they really don't care. Take it or leave it. And they seem to make more money than they can spend regardless.

Well, I should probably wait until I try once more before posting this, but, I'm bored at work.

My scooter was in for service and I took the HD receiver with me for them to check out WHY it wasn't working. When the guy at the counter was trying to write up the work order, he acted as if he'd never heard of a garage door opener. He asked me, WHAT would you call that thing? Err, I'm just the lowly customer, I dunno. Well, the next day I happened to be back at the dealer on a poker run and checked on their progress. The technician looked at me as if, I've NEVER worked on one of these. How does it work? It doesn't work, that's why I brought it to you. I then explained how you simply switch the headlights from dim to bright and it sends a signal to THIS unit, the receiver. the receiver momentarily makes a switch that is wired to my electric garage door opener. Wow, that's amazing he says.

I made a mistake by even mentioning the Zippers Thundermax AT. I've heard of some weird things happening with it. They jumped on that bandwagon and all of a sudden, THAT is the problem. I guess if it is going to get fixed, I'll have to do it.

Sounds like this should not be to difficult to solve - there are only two components involved -  the transmitter and the receiver - and both have lights that flash in a certain way when working properly.  The hardest part of the troubleshooting process would be removing the outer fairing cover to see the transmitter - and I wouldn't bother with that until ruling out the receiver.  Rest assured the T Max with Auto Tune has nothing to do with it  - as mine works just fine...

Thanks Scott. I haven't tried it yet since I've gotten it back They did replace one pinched wire they found. MAYBE, that will do the trick.

I know, bro...just messin' with you.  If your transmitter is transmitting, you should see the light on the receiver flash if it's still paired up.  If that doesn't work, try what Don said about pairing it up with your existing garage door receiver.  If that doesn't work, take the bolts out of the fairing with some old socks on the Aux lamps to keep from scratching it, and look down just above the cig lighter on the inside of the fairing and you should see the light blink on the transmitter if it's working.  You can probably see it flash without pulling the fairing all the way off, though that's not real hard to do at that point.

I've been using the garage door opener that came with my SEUC. It's really handy, just click the high beam switch back and forth and the door opens. It all of a sudden quit working. I can't remember for sure, but it may have been about the time I had the Zippers Thundermax AT installed. I tried to reprogram the unit to communicate with the receiver as per the instructions, but nothing. Has anyone else had this problem. The dealer is looking into it but I almost know they won't fix it. They looked at me like I've grown two heads when I asked them to check it out. It seems to me the sending part of the unit is messing up.
My friends garage door opener works good with the TMAX installed.

I have to report that yesterday I hooked the receiver back up, re-programmed the two to communicate, and it worked! That pinched wire must have been the problem.

I build websites for a living, and every now and then something just does not work as you might expect it too.  I have stared at, cyphered with, trouble shot alone, with others, poke at, picked at and otherwise wasted days on something.  Then in frustration, just walk away from it for a day, and voila, the problem is right there before your very eyes and the solution is almost always simple.  I am happy to here you got your garage door opener back.  It sure is one handy tool.   :cherry:

Wouldn't do no good here anyway! There's no way that the only lock I count on, is the garage door opener. I keep my garage key-locked, besides the electric opener! Have to get off the bike anyway, and one remote always stays in my leather! What other super-dooper goodies ya got that I don't need? ::) Hoist! 8)

If Hoist moves down here to God's country he may get a life and ride some instead of doing all that posting picking on us!
I let my anaylist review some of his post and her determination was that he was jealous of you and I.
Well she did mention something about a neglected childhood and hoping to grow up someday and get a real bagger!
But lets not mention that part cause you know how sensitive he is.

Who wouldn't be jealous of us? I think that's a given. I'm not sure if he's jealous of us the men, or our machines.

Does he strike you as a person who can get upset really easy?

Good point H/B
Not sure how upset he gets but he did call me one time and was talking so fast.
I couldn't get a word in so I layed the phone down and went outside and mowed the grass.
I do have a riding mower so it didn't take over 45 minutes.
When I came back he was still talking.
Kinda reminds me of his posting!

Gotta love him but I'm sure he was neglected as a child! ;)
