I do not know for certain if the replacement engine will contain the improvements to prevent this pionion issue from happening again, my post was to find some minor form of security and assurance that none of us have had the replacement engine replaced.  My fingers are crossed!

I agree 100% . My CVO Ultra is currently in pieces at my dealer after they discovered the SAME problem with my pinion runout. It is supposed to be within .002 thousandths and was at .20 . They found the problem after I brought the bike in for a new cam and they could not get the oil pump off. MOCO immediately authorized a new motor but I am still afraid this could happen again. I have been told that the crankshaft is balanced and manufactured with a machine and this problem occurs when the crankshaft is not true. If it is balanced correctly when installed in the motor this problem should never occur again. I sincerly hope the MOCO has corrected this problem since it could lead to a bad crash.

"If balanced correctly" were the exact words I heard.!!!

There is some good news, the motor shipped on Friday.  Wednesday afternoon I received a call that the motor arrived that morning, my SEUC just got back from the test ride, they were cleaning it up (I must of hit every endangered species type of insect crossing AZ), and when could I come down and get it.

Pretty quick turnaround, I'd say, thanks Thunderbird HD!

I will sign up for the the "Ultra" package H.O.G. offers, that might be $29.95 well spent, just in case.

Don't know yet, I haven't picked it up.

I am in Colorado, bike is in Albuquerque.  Since this is Mother's Day weekend, I am trying to figure out how to get down to pick it up and keep my 'hall pass' for the riding I  plan on doing over the next few months.

I will post when I return.

Ok, keep us up to date on it. If this happens again we all need to start thinking "class action" !!!

Picked up my 07 SEUC Sunday morning in Albuquerque and broke it in on the lo-oong way home to Colorado.   New warranty replacement 110" acted as it should.  Nothing new to report.

No sense dwelling on 'pain and suffering", new break-in period, the inconvenience,  yada-yada.  Moving on cautiously.

Same here: New motor runs great and has new updated 110 badges on it. I have about 300 miles on it so far and will be changing the oil around 400 or 500 miles.

Glad to read both your bikes are ok.

Might as well ride 'em  & ride 'em hard as you wish - after all its better to discover 'surprises' while under warranty.

We have done too many of these to count. I have dealers sending us the case for a timken upgrade. You at a hp/tq level that a timken bearing is a must not " well you could but if you ride easy you will be fine" The crank is walking in the lower end it will fail again. Just did a customers that the dealer stopped fixing he was on his third crank. They had never heard of converting a roller bearing to a timken. cost wise 350 is cheap compared to the damage it will cause.

I feel cheated, my replacement doesn't have the new badges.

I would look into that. It should be a new motor that was built by hand (according to the MOCO). There is no reason your motor shouldn't have the new badges unless it is old stock which could still have the problem  :confused5:

My replacement has the new black-background badges, and to be honest, I am not convinced that I would not end up with an out-of-tolerence pinion once again.   On the other hand, there appears to be many of the silver-backgound 110" engines that have not had this issue.   It's a crap-shoot!

I'd like to hear more about a timken upgrade.

Keep an eye on this. I've heard of new motors out of the crate and never run, with measured runout of .008" This is bad news! I'm checking mine at the end of the month when the head gaskets get replaced and rocker boxes clearanced. I'm planning on the SE 251 cams if the runout is acceptable. If it's close. I'm not doing cams and will attempt to grenade this engine myself, if they don't replace it right away. And believe me, I'll have fun doing that for them! Hoist! 8)

Congratulations!  With a least 2 known HD Corporate departments monitoring this site you don't have to worry about the 1000+ post warranty concerns anymore.  First time to observe warranty suicide in real time.  Scary...

Hey, Hoist, I can see your photo on the wall of every dealer service dept just waiting for you to come in with that "grenaded" motor.  LOL.
