07 SE Ultra Misc. Questions...
« on: May 07, 2007, 12:51:03 AM »

Ok boys, Here are a few for you veteran owners...

1) Has anyone seen the new rear LED light extension installed yet....It is this one in case you have not seen it

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?WebLogicSession=G2ttygvfrhisQHxdavlnvNaJNn79X2mBHqh5IN57RIgNThpie4WO!-151519736!181237813!7005!8005&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448770885&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302491575&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302491575&bmUID=1178512813762&bmLocale=en_US

2) I am thinking of changing the shield and side fairing "fins" to smoke or black.  I've seen the smoke, but cannot seem to find a black that you can see (at least somewhat) through.  Maybe they do not make such an animal.  May have to settle for smoke, as I want them to match.

3) Can you install the windshield bags on these SE's?  I think with the dash, it may preclude adding them here.  I took my lower fairings off for the summer and I really miss those two little storeage pockets.

3) Will the Tour-Pak lid organizer fit our leather tour paks?   I am about to order some saddlebag lid organizers and would really love to have some pockets and pouches in the tour pak as well.  Reading the HD catalog description, it should fit as it is for the King and the Chopped Tour Pak.  They show it installed in a RK leather tour pak.  Anyone use one of these?

4) Opinions on the HD hand help mic vs. the one from J & M.  Also, same question on helmet headsets.  I got one from HD, but I seem to remember a thread discussing the virtures of several different headsets.  I'll search for it and see if I can find it.  HD does have the chrome mount for the mic, but I guess I should base the  decision on which mic operates the best.

5) Anyone have a good mounting idea for your Ipod if you play it through the aux. outlet?

6) Any of you local north Texas guys have the Hawg-Wired speakers installed?  I would really love to hear what they sound like vs. the stock set up.  I guess I may have to wait until Hot Springs to hear what it sounds like.  H-D Dude, you coming to AR? ;D

Thanks Mark.  The Ipod solution will work for me in the winter when my fairings will get put back on.

Here is my solution for my iPod. It works great and I still have access to the controls while riding.

Cman - I installed the leather multi pocket windshield pouch http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441844323&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302286961&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302286961&bmUID=1178544867113&bmLocale=en_US

It was a tight fit, but it fits fine.  I was told it would not fit on top of the leather dash, but it has been there for over 2 months now.

John,

I've had my three pocket pouch on mine for over a year. When I put it on the first time, I laid a thin piece of black foam, about 1/8 thick on the bottom of the pouch so it
wouldn't  scratch the leather. I put the same stuff between the windshield and the pouch, cause it will scratch the shield. The last time I changed shields, I noticed that it had put a couple of indentions on the leather, but no scratches. Either way, I love the pouch, and if you had to replace the leather dash down the road, it's worth it to me.

Answer to number 1 here: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=13301.0;topicseen

Number 3:  The three pocket is the solution here, the one piece hard box is not a good fit with our dash.

3B.  BobD says it doesn't fit:  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=4941.0
